I often think of different events that could be in the game and I thought there should be a thread where we can write some of them down.

(Feel free to use them Paradox/Stellaris team)

Grief of a nation event

Triggers - 20% chance to trigger after a battle against another Empire where you lost more than 40% of your active fleet. (Cannot trigger during first 80 years; Cannot trigger for gestalt empires)

Pop-up:

'The nation has been gripped by grief after our recent battle at *insert name of system*. The voices of grieving families, relatives and friends has travelled across our empire giving birth to a new movement. The goal of the movement is unclear as of now. Only time can tell how the people will respond.'

Choice 1 (no pre-requisites) - 'Lets not interfere' - Results are randomized with an equal chance for either of them.

Result 1: 'Comforted by thoughts of peace in the afterlife for the fallen, the people have found solace in faith and turned to spiritual leaders for guidance. Statues commemorating those that have died in the battle of *insert name of system* have been erected in churches and shrines across the empire.'
Effect - 'Very well...' - 4 pops turn to Spiritualist. Spiritualist ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Result 2: 'Inspired by the bravery and sacrifice of those that have fallen in the battle of *insert name of system* statues have been erected in the honor of these heroes inspiring a record number of people to apply for millitary service. The people demanded with a single voice for the millitary to be supported and strengthened.'
Effect - 'Very well...' - 4 pops turn to Millitarist. Millitarist ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Result 3: 'Angered by the loss of life at the hand of xenos, the people united in demanding vengeance for the fallen. The voice of the grieving families and friends of the fallen had sown distrust of all xenos in the minds of the people, and a hatred towards all outsiders.'
Effect - 'Very well...' - 4 pops turn to Xenophobe. Xenophobe ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Result 4: 'After images and recordings of the battle had reached the empire, several prominent figures have spoken out against those in charge of the ships, claiming that the battle of *insert name of system* was a result of incompetence. Demanding stronger leaders and a strict and ordered command structure the people put their trust in these leaders to make sure this never happens again.'
Effect - 'Very well...' - 4 pops turn to Authoritarian. Authoritarian ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Result 5: 'United in the belief that such loss of life is futile, the people demanded scientists to find a way to avoid a battle like this ever occuring again. Bright minds across *insert name of your empire* had been analyzing the battle coming up with models and theories on how to minimalize the loss of life and people have rallied behind these new ideas.
Effect - 'Very well' - 4 pops turn to Materialist. Materialist ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Result 6 (extra condition - Your empire was the attacker in the war): 'As the people grieved for the fallen, several inspiring songs have popped up about the loss of life and futility of war. Soon after, people went out into the streets to protest the war, and demanded a more peaceful way forward so that such events may never happen again.'
Effect - 'Very well...' - 4 pops turn to Pacifist. Pacifist ethics attraction +25% for 12 months.

Choice 2 (requires spiritualist empire ethics) - 'We must guide them through these troubled times' - Instead of a random effect you are guaranteed result 1

Choice 3 (requires millitarist empire ethics) - 'We must honor these brave heroes' - Instead of a random effect you are guaranteed result 2

Choice 4 (requires xenophobe empire ethics) - 'The xenos must pay for this' - Instead of a random effect you are guaranteed result 3

Choice 5 (requires authoritarian empire ethics) - 'This demands strong leadership' - Instead of a random effect you are guaranteed result 4

Choice 6 (requires materialist empire ethics) - 'The only way forwards is through science!' - Instead of a random effect you are guaranteed result 5.

Choice 1 - "Forbid its use within the [Empire]" - one time influence gain
Choice 2 - "Our military engineers shall get the license" - +20% ship construction speed on empire

The Mutant experiment

Triggers - Requires a maniacal scientist of at least level 5; Requires gene tailoring technology; Has a minuscule chance of happening every month;
(can only happen once per playthrough)

Pop up:

'After years of rumors, it has finally been confirmed that *insert scientist name* has secretly been working on highly experimental and unproven genetic experiments. The experiments appear to have been highly unethical, however the research that has been found has proven itself controversial in nature. Several mutant creatures have been found locked away in a secret research room of *insert scientist name*. Some called them abominations, others call them the next step in evolution. Following this discovery, the question on everyone's mind is, how should we proceed?

Choice 1 - Abominations! Destroy the research and test subjects. - Gain 120 influence. *insert scientist name* is executed.

Choice 2 - This research might be unethical, but it could also prove useful. - Gain 2000 society research. *insert scientist name* is put in prison.

Choice 3 (requires materialist) - Ingenius work. Promote and fund *insert scientist name*'s research. - Gain +10% society research speed for 5 years, 1000 society research and *insert scientist name* gains 1 rank's worth of experience if not already max level.

Choice 4 (requires militarist) - Interesting work. Are there any military applications? - Gain 20% progress towards Morphogenetic Field Mastery and gain 2 Xenomorph armies. *insert scientist name* remains in your service.

Choice 5 (requires xenophile) - These "mutants" must be integrated back into society. - Gain 2 pops with randomized traits (extra chance for rare traits such as Survivor, Servile, Limited Regeneration, Irradiated, Cybernetic ) ; Gain 40 influence ; *insert scientist name* resists arrest and dies.

Choice 6 (requires egalitarian) - Robbing people of their freedom to be used as test subjects is unforgiveable. - *insert scientist name* is put in prison. Randomly gain two out of the following five effects:

Result 1 - Gain 2 xenomorph army

Result 2 - Gain 2 gene warrior army

Result 3 - Gain 1 pop randomized traits (extra chance for rares as per above)

The event is as unbalanced as what it describes but I'm too lazy to balance it now. Good thing I don't work for PDX XD

Stellaris

Trigger: machine empire, observation post above Earth, humans are in early space age

Pop-up:
'As with most organic species that reached tech level 9, the species designating itself as "human" has established decades ago a global computer network. An "internet" as it is referred to. While assimilating the species' knowledge base by intercepting all data packages traveling across the global network we have identified something peculiar. A software developer designating itself as "Paradox Interactive" has created a popular strategic simulation software known as "Stellaris". Such a development is not uncommon among tech level 9 organics, but this software works uncannily similar to our [machine ruler title]'s strategic calculations.'

Choice 1 - 'Copy the software and integrate it with the [machine ruler title]'s strategic calculation assets.'

Choice 2 - 'Copy the software and debug it.' - Immediate result: -50 influence

Choice 3 - 'Organic software are always inferior to ours. Ignore it.' - Immediate result: gain [scales with empire output] society research points

Result 1 - 'The software ran flawlessly at first but then we started to notice both slowdowns and errors within the [machine ruler title]'s logical calculations. It appears the software contains a number of simulation imbalances that have limited our strategic simulation efficiency.' Immediate result: -40% empire unity for 1 year

Result 2 - 'As expected from a primitive organic species, the software contained a number of simulation imbalances and even a small number of bugs. It appears they are in the process of being patched out, a process we have sped up. We can now integrate the software with no ill effects to improve our own strategic simulations.' Immediate result: permanent +5% empire unity modifier
