Once again, thank you all for the very humbling honor of receiving this award. I am passing it off to a WritAAR who has won several times in the past, but has not been honored with this in some time, and is currently working on a pretty impressive project in CKII.

My nomination goes to @coz1 , for his AAR "The Rightful King" https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-rightful-king.972413/

If showcasing good writing is the goal, then we would all do well to take some time to kick back and enjoy what coz1 has put together.

Wow! Literally! This comes as a very unexpected but much appreciated early birthday present (yours truly turns 44 on March 18th.) Thank you very much, RedTemplar!!!

And indeed, I have won before a few times. The first was almost exactly 13 years ago in March of 2004. The last time I got the nod was 8 years ago in 2009. I never believed I would find another one as I never thought I would write another AAR that might be found worthy enough.

However, in October of last year, after some gaming of a particular scenario a few times, I caught onto an idea that quickly germinated into the AAR The Rightful King. In it, I have attempted to take a little known and obscure but real life individual from exile to the throne. That man is Eadgar of Wessex, a true descendant of the House of Wessex. Morcar, the Duke of York has already been singled out as a favorite character by many and I believe several are thinking the same of William the Conqueror. In all, I have had a blast writing the piece and have truly appreciate the following it has gathered.

It has grown rather long by now as I was updating pretty much every day at the beginning and I'm still trying to update every other day or no less than three days so it goes fairly fast. I understand if the length is daunting to some but I would love for anyone new to come by and check it out. Join the very best readers of AARland! :)

It used to be a tradition in this thread to tell the people about yourself. Many older hands know me well, but some new ones might not. As stated, I will soon be turning 44 and live in Atlanta, Georgia where I was born (after a brief sojourn to Chicago for three years after college.) After many years at a law firm, I changed direction and now work Estate Sales (where I get a nice selection of choice books quite a lot - a true perk!) I am single and basically married to my 8 year old lab/pit mix named Max. It's his house, I just pay the mortgage.

I joined this forum way back in 2002 as I have always loved history and war based games and it was a natural fit after I discovered the original Europa Universalis game in 2001. I got very active in the AAR area in 2004 and finally was invited to join the moderating team which I was proud to do for 5 years. I finally hung up the guns in 2011 and went back to being a private citizen, more or less. I am still vocal, or try to be as that was always my way from the beginning. I learned from the best - the greats, MrT and Lord Durham.

Most of the time these past few years, I have mainly kept at trying to keep our wonderful Guess the Author project alive and we just finished another excellent round (look to later in the year for another.) As I mentioned above, I did not think I would ever get back to being a writer here even though I enjoy it. I just did not have the story. Now that I do, I am afraid you will all have coz1 to kick around for a little while longer. ;) I am very happy to be back and active and I am having more fun on this forum than I have in many years! That is entirely thanks to you good folks for your amazing encouragement, active participation and truly excellent comments.

Thank you again to RedTemplar for the nod and many thanks to those of you that stopped by for the well wishes! I'll be back at the end of the week to pass this on to another worthy writAAR. :D

What a wonderful informative acceptance response @coz1 many thanks. Good to get some ba ckground for you.

Congrats to a very worthy winner! :)

I've been a longtime fan of your work coz1 - For the Glory of Persia was one of the first AAR's I read! :)

You've been an inspiration for many years Coz. Well deserved and thanks for all the stories and encouragements! :)

Well, my week is very nearly up so it is time to pass this on to another worthy recipient. Before I do so, allow me to say thank you once again to @RedTemplar for the kind nod as well as to all of those that have stopped by to offer congratulations. It is especially nice to see some old names pop in. @RossN and @TreizeV - the feeling is entirely mutual and a special thanks for mentioning For the Glory of Persia, RossN. I had so much fun writing that AAR.

Now on to the pressing matter at hand - unfortunately I do not get out and read as much as I once did so my possible selections are decidedly limited as I spend most of my time in the CKII area. Not wanting to keep the award always in the same game as may happen from time to time, I looked around at some other games that I may not be reading but have enough awareness that there might be some worthy writAARs to reward. It did not take me long to find the next winner. This writAAR has also been around for many years and though he has won this in the past as well, his last nod was nearly a decade ago. He did not write much over those years but is back and though I have not read the entirety of the work, I have read enough to know that this is entirely warranted.

There is no secret that this individual is a good and close friend to me so I hope folks will not find it too cliquish that I may pass it off to him. I simply think the work is worthy enough and his talents no secret to anyone that has read his AAR. Thus I nominate @stnylan as the next WritAAR of the Week for his work in Stellaris - Pax Humanitas. His use of chronicles is supremely well done (something of a specialty for this writer) and it is high time he finds recognition once more for his great writing!

Congrats my old friend! This is very well deserved!

Ah, @stnylan ! A most worthy winner! Don't be afraid of accusations of cameraderie, @coz1 , @stnylan 's works speak for themselves. His Stellaris AAR is a gem of an AAR, and no body in their right mind would question it due to your friendship.:)

Congratulations, mate!

Congrats @stnylan! I've very recently got into Stellaris so I'll have to check this one out! :)

Thanks for the kind words @coz1!

Congrats @stnylan for winning two awards in one week and joining those few who've won 4 or more times WritAAR of the Week!

Congratulations @stnylan and a late congratulation to @coz1 for last week!

Oh @coz1 you shouldn't have! In truth I didn't feel that I could post an acknowledgement until I managed to get an update done this week - just posted! - hence my delay in replying.

Thank you also @Nikolai @RossN @Specialist290 @TheAnguishedOne @Qorten @Macke11 and @loup99.

So, Pax Humanitas. I have been mucking around in Stellaris since the late summer, and as I started taking a greater part in the forum again almost inevitably the urge to write an AAR returned. But which game? Well, I have just finished an game in EU4 as the Ottomans so wanted a different game. Whilst I am very comfortable in the CK2 era I have probably tried more AARs for that time than any other, so something different. I have a long-term concept for a HoI AAR (been running around my head since at least 2005), but would have to wait on that. And I must confess that I have never probably played Victoria II - despite owning it and all the DLC - as it came out right in the middle of my Paradox slump. But I was enjoying Stellaris and figured I could make something work.

So Stellaris, but I wanted to try and do something slightly different, so I chose to play as Fanatic Pacifist Spiritualists. I have though indulged a little in my CK2-era love by chosing the chronicle style, with so far a couple of short narrative passages thrown in. I cannot claim to be updating it terribly fast - I have played through 40 years and I still have one update before I start playing again. But I am enjoying it, and I hope other people are too. There is no doubt that the "writing muscles" - as it were - are a bit stiff from disuse.

Well, the time has come to pass this one, and I have chosen to nominate @Farquharson for his recent excellent work in the Stellaris subforum. His P is for Puffheads will bring back fond memories for forumites of a certain age, and also recently his Space: The Fungal Frontier showed he still had a deft touch with an idea and phrase.

Congratulations @Farquharson

Congratulations @Farquharson! I checked your AARs and they certainly look worth reading!

Many congratulations, Farquharson! I've been meaning to get over and check your latest out and this is a great chance for that. And rest assured that I keep track of our multiple winners and your new status is duly updated in the first post of this thread. :D
