Wow! I certainly wasn't expecting this -- with the prestigious nominees coming before, I'm not so certain the honor isn't something of a loose fit, but I trust anonymous's judgement well enough, so we shall have a few words about me.

I was born (or so the videotapes claim) on the sixth of August 1987, which, as the observant will notice, ensures that if I ever become important I will surely become part of the 42 mythos. I spent my early childhood being a complete prodigy; apparently at three or so I could say 'the gray cat sits on the wall' in twenty-seven languages, add, divide, subtract, and so on. Of course, there exist natural stabilizers, and so I came down with a rather severe case of meningitis, along with a 106 fever, and lost it all. To this day I'm not so good with math; in the abstract I think of this as perhaps similar to the kick in the head Lincoln received which likely made him who he was, politically speaking.

And blaming my politics on subtle brain damage isn't too uncommon, so I'm going with that.

I spent two years of my late boyhood on the Carribean island of Dominica as the son of a medical student, which probably had as much of an influence on me as anything. After returning, I lived in Las Vegas for some years as an utter social outcast, with a brief stint in New York around 2000, and there I live to this day.

I define myself, in belief terms, as a Quaker and a small-s socialist (although perhaps, as of 2008, a big-S socialist as well). The Quakers primarily believe that an inner light guides us all to do the right thing -- and so it is only through discussion and debate that the ultimate Truth can be found. We are also pretty much the only directly Christian church which 'moral majority' politics actively persecute, which is always fun.
As far as socialism goes... well, the idea that it's any capable man's obligation to help his fellow man in need might not be popular, but stranger things have caught on before.

In my spare time, I do a lot of things. I am the perennial funny-man of a website -- the link leads to a brief and, relative to the rest, inoffensive introduction -- which has been around since mid-2001. I write but not well, to any publishable length, or (thus far) to any success. I debate, I oratorize, I play the viola very badly, and on occasion I attribute to Emily Dickenson pornographic poetry which I have written in her style. I'm also on a quiz team, but that's not so important. I'm not a bad person to know, and I'm known to make people laugh. I'm also known to piss people off, sometimes at the same time. My comedy is better than my drama, and I'm surprised, more than anything, that the latter is likely to be what I'm known for.

Current AARs:

A Bunch Of Twisty Little AARs, All Different: Variations On Theodoros: EU2. Computer gets sent back in time, Crimeans prosper. I'm very likely to go back to work on this one at some point in the distant future; it's probably my favorite to write and play out of any AAR I have.

Gatherer of Clouds: A Russian Odyssey: Vicky. Russian non-story AAR, which I will update from time to time.

Unmitigated Copyright Infringement: A Col*U*mbian AAR: Vicky. Columbian AAR, humorous -- may remain dead, may come back, who knows.

Theft, Rhetoric, and Fixed Bayonets: The Lone StAAR Empire: Vicky. Texas. Story AAR; if you're reading this you either already know it or probably should.

Other Projects:
Project Vespucci: What would have happened if Europeans had never discovered America? Project Vespucci, a pet project of mine, goes on and makes a scenario about it.

In addition to this, I am a well-known and, by some gauges, well-respected figure in the Spiderweb Software community.

Right now I am more or less hooked on The Rebirth of the Celestial Kingdom, Fear Russia!, Gustavus Envy, and Advantages without Obligations. Which certainly isn't to say I haven't read and enjoyed your AAR.

In the future I hope to attend Reed College in Portland, OR -- for what, I'm not entirely certain -- write fiction, and move into politics like kudzu. Oh, and start a band with some friends of mine up there. So far we've got a tone-deaf songwriter, an Asian chick who supposedly plays the guitar, me, and a fat man.

I plan to continue Theft, Rhetoric, and Fixed Bayonets in HOI2 when it is available, but beyond that I maintain silence. :)

I've got a WoW pick for next week, so come Sunday I'll be right on it.

12/12

I thank you all for your congratulations, and anonymous4401 again for his nomination; my tenure as WoW ends (by my clock) in an hour; so to follow me I nominate BrotherAdso for next WritAAR of the Week; he is the author of The Rebirth of the Celestial Kingdom: an AAR of China, which is one of my enduring favorites. (yes, ANOTHER Vicky writer!)

Has BrotherAdso realized he won this last week? If not, someone might mention it to him. If he does not make note in this thread before the end of today, I submit that el presidentse gets to choose again as we did the last time there was a no show.

Hmm. Strange -- our dear BrotherAdso has disappeared mysteriously. I shall chalk this up to pirates, who have probably abducted this beloved author, confused as they often are by unusual but germane use of words that sound like 'arr', and forced him to walk the plank. I move that once he washes ashore on some remote, windswept island in the Caribbean and finds his way back to civilization through skill, tenacity, and no mean amount of luck, he be allowed to bask for a fair while alongside whoever else is WoW at that time.

Should the WoW thus afflicted object, I move we make him walk the plank.

To serve as WoW until the Spanish main delivers BrotherAdso to us once more (or a new one crops up, whenever is sooner), I nominate Heretic, author of Bolivar II, A Crown of Ice and Snow, and Hamburger Royalties, and overall nice guy.
