Three places on the internet I have regularly enjoyed over the years.

1. The old Stars! gaming community
2. The Kerboros Sword of the Stars forums
3. Paradox forums

These three places have always been a nice place to visit and participate. I am even able to regularly overlook those who always insist on cursing poorly.

When I speak of lack of community representation from Paradox in the Steam Cities: Skylines discussion forum, I refer to the current Community Manager. Escher couldn't fill John's shoes and it doesn't appear that Zeke can either, although, to be fair, he has only just started.

I worked with John, Graham, and now Zeke, and at no time have we been able to manage those Steam communities =/ I'll gladly accept any advice or recommendations, but as of right now, the place is a bloody mess. Our posts have no visibility, and get drowned out instantly. The notification system is horrid. It's just a poor communication platform overall, especially since it's also where we do our own personal gaming. And although this isn't an excuse, Steam forums are.... putrid? vile? Cruel and merciless? Not sure which adjective to use, haha.

So yeah, I'll fully admit that we aren't very good at communicating on Steam. If it's really wanted, we can step up our game!

I think PDX EU and CK has explicitly stated, that they do not support steam community and focus on this forum along with something else which I don´t use and call recall... Also due to not wanting to hire that much more personnel to handle it (might be due to the same issue you are suffering from)...

As representatives for Paradox, I would assume you have moderator status which would enable you to 'sticky' your important posts and announcements, just as John used to do. That would keep them from being drowned out.
The sheer daily turnover of posts might seem daunting but is indicative of a lively and very busy forum that needs to be visited a couple of times daily, just to keep up. The notification system is no better or worse than any other forum. You can flag your posts to be watched and it isn't hard at all to locate them via the discussion history or your own personal post history.
I wouldn't call it cruel or vile at all. It is actually a very friendly and supportive community there. Of course, it can get more trolling and flaming than you see here, but while I might not be his biggest fan, the Steam moderator, Laptop65, is ruthlessly efficient in dealing with any nonsense. Just flag any objectionable post or poster with a Report and he responds swiftly.
By contrast, Reddit is a bloody mess... more akin to a text message bloodbath than a constructive discussion forum.
Your presence is wanted and would be welcome, you just have to visit more often to stay on top of it

I'll spend some more time communicating on Steam Communities (other than the workshop, I'm pretty active there already) as we ramp up for Natural Disasters. Thanks for the tips and your understanding =)

I've noticed a big difference between the Steam forums and these. I wonder how much of that is because people hit the Steam forum when they are frustrated and just want to get back into the game. People here tend to be more interested in talking and learning about the game. Because the reason for people going to the forum is different, it's going to be different sounding. The Steam forums seem more desperate to get a quick fix or vent some frustration which is to be expected. They are closer to the "fire". But there is a lot to be learned from it. When I'm in the Steam forum to help and I see Grapplehoeker has posted already, I know they got the information they needed. He's been a huge help to so many people over there.
