Would you want sidequests that tell space opera type stories?

What did you think of that church of light sidequest that gave you an ancient dreadnought? What do you think if we got an expansion where a get a new type of ship with a new type of leader? The new ship class could be spy or military.

You can choose the type of space captain. This leader can be a military professional like Commander Shepard or rogue like Malcom Reynolds or Han Solo.

Attaching their ships to your fleets would give your fleets military power bonuses on top of the ones admirals give. Who wants to see intergalactic villains like Saren Arterius and Baal plotting intergalactic extinction and subjugation and sending these military and rogue heroes off to fight them?

Would we want organizations Cerberus or Section 31? What about ethically questionable research going wrong like Noveria?

Maybe this can be part of an espionage expansion pack. I have heard Mass Effect being called Jack Bauer/James Bond in space.

Oh yes! I think Stellaris needs more quests like these!

There's really no need to illustrate every sentence.

It's actually one of the more interesting events and I wish the game had more like it and expanded upon the ones in already in it.

once we get war, diplomacy, espionage, and trade DLC then yeah, as a flavor-side DLC this would be awesome.

I want to get to know the most notorious heroes and rogues of the galaxy.

Like a year or two from now. Once the base game is rock solid and they finally have time to go deep.

I think the stories should start out as you enter the FTL age (beginning of the game), and vary depending on the ethics you chose, with some backstory of how it began and lead up to "this moment".

I think that non-governmental organizations would be a nice addition to the game. Many space operas rely on corporations, mercenaries, or religious orders, to quote the most frequent ones.

Instead of simple events, they could be added to the game in order to generate emergent story-telling (like the factions in Banks) through competition, expansion, and their relations with empires. How amazing it could be, as a ploutocratic empire, to discover than this little pill the Green Sun Corp has been selling to your people was in fact processed members of your species fabricated on the planet you sold to this corporation. Or that this religious helpers from the neighbouring empire organized the rebellion of your slaves.

Events are nice, but I prefer when they are associated with gameplay.
