Would this be considered "cheating"?

I am a super-enlarged France in 1697 and have Poland as vassal by event, and have just FV-ed Austria. I'm currently at war with Bremen, who owns Bremen and Lappland (have no idea how they got that) and I occupy Bremen. The rest of Norway and Sweden is owned by Sweden. Would it be considered cheating if I edited the save-game to make it so I owned Bremen, Sweden owned Lappland, and Bremen didn't exist? It would make my empire and the map of Europe look a LOT better. Also, I would be one step closer to owning eveerything in modern day Germany. All I'd have to do is annex Saxony (haven't gotten around to it cause they were usualy allied with enlgnad or Sweden) and taking Baden from Savoy. Just wanted some input as to the ethics of my save-game-editing.

As far as I'm concerned this would certainly be cheating. Since you are mere giving yourself the province rather than actually making the effort and taking lappland and fighting the two wars. If you dont want to cheat then I suggest taking it by normal means and then release lappland or let it revolt away if you dont want it.

Of course it is "cheating." "Cheating" is doing something to benefit yourself or another without following the rules.

It is always up to you to decide your tolerance level for "cheating."

You have to grab Lappland in a peace with Bremen and force-vassalize Bremen, let Lappland revolt and join Sweden themselves (possible if no fort there). You could diplo-annex Bremen ten years later. Or just grab Lappland and force-annex Bremen as a one province country in another war.

Well, I have military access with Sweden and every time I move troops up to Lappland to besiege it (damn minimal forts) Old Man Winter comes and kicks me out. I guess I could try to get Sweden into my alliance but that would require kicking someone else out.

Do not cheat because it's a 'cheat' but because it will stop you from enjoying the game. And screw ethics and morality.

make alliance with sweden, dow bremen, occupy bremen and let sweden take lappland. make peace treaty to give lappland to sweden and you vassalise bremen. ditch the alliance with sweden. ten years later diploannex bremen. minimum badboy, maximum pleasure.

edit: there is an alternate way to save edit that isnt really cheating: relocate bremens capital to lappland, explanation: the government fled from invading french troops. kinda like de gaulle and free french in africa a few centuries later. i use this to relocate golden horde from stalingrad elsewhere when they like own half of iran and middle east and i own all their starting provinces. i just want what is mine, dont really need a shitload of muslim provinces that dont belong to mother russia and another shitload of badboy points just to get one of my national provinces.

In these cases, I think it's fair to "cheat". That is, handing over Lappland to Sweden. Why the hell would Bremen even want Lappland, or Sweden be willing to hand it over anyway? It's just making up for the AI quirks. Sometimes, these swaps can be necessary to hinder the near-endless wars that occur frequently.

If you feel bad about what you're doing you could just say to yourself while editing the save file:

This is the action the french diplomats have taken against you Bremen,
your country borders doesn't look good and your country makes my country look bad. That makes me evil and because of that we the mighty overpowered french empire is going to reshape the borders of Europe, meaning your pathetic country will cease to exist.
If you feel like refuse I will assasinate your king or maybe give him crap stats and let you suffer.

Mkay, point 1: a super-enlarged France can surely afford the manpower losses involved in a winter siege!

Point 2: It's a minimal fort - for goodness sake, just dump 20k troops and assualt!

Point 3: If you really can't hack that, then you could always actually USE your military access in Sweden - just keep troops in the bordering province to Lapland, and send them in 1000 or 2000 at a time to keep numbers up. As I said in point 1 (above) you can easily afford the lossess if you're super-enlarged France, and though it's not a particularly tangible benefit, hey, what are troops there for but to suffer at the whims of their omniscient immortal monarchs

And why bothering running all the way through Scandinavia for that, just use your fleet to transport the troops; and use the MA with Sweden as draik said, to keep little battalions to refuel the siege..

Bring 40 cannons to the seige and start early in the year. It won't take long.
