Would prefer a Matrilineal Marriage

Playing as Capet in the earliest start. Had two sons before blowing my wife up with BS after seeing an uncommitted Duchess. Would prefer a matrilinial marriage. OK fine but I need to get married so i find a Duke with a son and three daughters in that order. The 16 year old, would prefer a matrilineal marriage. The 9 year old, would prefer a matrilinial marriage. The 2 year old imbecile, would prefer a matrilinial marriage.

Am I missing something? It feels like marrying noble houses became really difficult in this latest patch.

Isn't the earliest Capet a 1 title count? It can be hard to get higher ranked characters to marry in your favor. Sometimes you need to just flat out bribe them.

Also, who's the earliest Capet again? I forget where he's at.

Bourbon, and I got the 2nd in line daughter of the Greek Emperor to marry me just by asking.

As far as I've noticed, AI doesn't like marrying daughters that are at least 6th in line normally.

The AI will do it, they are just more picky about it.

A good trick to get patrilineal marriages to duchesses, if you are not a higher tier than Duke, is to marry a princess every-other generation. Why? If your parent or grandparent was a King-tier ruler, you are considered to be of royal blood. And a duchess will almost always marry someone of royal blood. Of course, your royal blood will wear off the next generation. So, you'll have to marry a princess again, to keep the cycle going.

That's a nice strategy. But the point is it looks like that matrilinear marriages were common in the Middle Ages, and they weren't. A random duke in France wasn't looking for matrilinear marriages by default.

At any rate, there is a game rule that disables matrilineal marriages.

I did turn them off, and I've grown really well, but I'm on my fourth attempt because one good plague and your dynasty is dead.

As King of Wales, I managed to matri-marry my daughter to the Byzantine Empire's heir!

He was far from the heir when I made the betrothal, and when it came around to honouring it, they wouldn't accept my offer..... But they'd happily offer it to me

To be honest I haven't played this patch, but I've seen the "Prefers a matrilineal marriage" in counts and dukes (myself being king or emperor) for most (if not all) of his daughters despite having two or three sons. I'm pefectly fine with the "Desires a better alliance/NAP" modifier, but the matrilineal thing is beyond ridiculous.
