So... this is perhaps overly ambitious and impossible, but I thought I'd give it a shot... (double posting on main forums in case)

Is there a way to add people to a war by event? If so, could we make an event tree such that...
LIEGE ENTERS WAR
--Liege gets event,
------A.) "Call the banners" Requires X prestige (costs prestige?), trigger event for all of your vassal
------B.) "We shall fight ourselves" (end tree)

--Vassals gets event, "LIEGE HAS CALLED HIS BANNERS"
--High opinion, "We shall answer the call" - added to war, boost liege opinion of vassal
--Medium opinion, "Stall for time" - push off joining war, triggers again in one year
--Low opinion, "Tell him he can fight the war himself" (hurt liege opinion of vassal)
--Extremely low opinion + ambitious?, "This is my chance! (declare war on liege/join on opponent's side)

----

OR, if it is possible, could we just duplicate "Call ally" and set the requirements so that instead of being allies, they need to be related as direct vassals/liege?

I have a feeling this won't be possible, but I think it would be a great mechanic anyways, and it would also make it easier to enact the chaotic situation of civil wars and allow vassals to be "loyalists" if they waned.

Sometimes I want to support my king, damnit!

I think so. Check out some of the plot events that start wars. That should give you a model:

plot_target_title = {
reverse_war = {
target = ROOT
casus_belli = claim_on_liege_plot
plot_backers = yes
}
}
