Yeah, I've thought of that as well. I think we could have the text "Inspired by General_Grant's 'Peace to End All Peaces'" on the corner of the screen if we do that.
Of course, we could have. I mean, after all, we're making this from scratch, and it's not "Let's remake PtEAP", it's reboot. Our own thing.

Well in that case we gotta come up with a name for the mod. I was thinking of something like The Great Shattering Illusion or The Long Calm Before the Storm.

The Great Shattering Illusion sounds just about right. GSI is cool too. What I'm thinking is that this thread we keep as a kind of working platform, where people can see what we're currently doing, while we will create a new thread with a new name once we release 0.1. How do you find that?

GSI rolls off the tongue nicely.

I was thinking a bit about what we can do for the United States, and a couple thoughts came to mind.

If I read the thread correctly, President Richtie will be assassinated a couple months in, leaving John Nance Garner suddenly in charge of a nation caught in a localized depression. One possibility is to make Garner basically a blank slate, gameplay wise. Like he makes a speech when he assumes the presidency and it turns him into different kinds of HoS, which would change up the AI chance to decide on different domestic and possibly foreign policies. IIRC the Romanov guy in Kaiserreich has something similar happen to him. I think his presidency should be mainly focused on trying to end the depression, although I think that there should be some foreign policy decisions before 1940. From there, the 1940 election, assuming something terrible doesn't happen to Garner beforehand, will lean America in one foreign policy direction or another. (President Patton wants to make ALL the other bastards die for their country.)

Speaking of Foreign Policy, what would the major factions be in the game? Like the replacements for the Allies and Axis and the Comintern. I know that there are events to change the names and stuff, so an idea I had is to leave them blank until said alliances are "formed" and these become the major power groups. This would allow us to probably avoid a standard WW1/WW2 scenario, and allow for more fluid great wars. Like the Winner of the French Civil War, if they are not isolationist, could create the first of these major alliance groups and get set as the leader. This would also allow me to try out an idea I had for the USA, if there are the right conditions for them to form a group of like minded democracies. A United Federation of Nations, if you will.

These are some nice ideas you got. Thinking we'll be implementing those, although USA is kind of a blank sheet altogether. I mean, I want to find a way for them to become ultra imperialist, not a simple democracy bringer, and when I say "ultra", I mean "attacking and balkanizing Britain" kind of way. BTW, Korsteeni, I really want to see that thing, no backing off now, you mentioned it first, man! :D

I think both of those options can certainly exist. The U.S for GSI can be like Russia for Kaiserreich: the wild card that can go any which way really easily.

Well, not entirely. I mean, communists in this universe are not cool, so they're probably not getting a chance in US.

Guess it'll be GSI then.

Ritchie dies from natural causes actually, but yes, that sounds like a plan. (Patton's probably not the right man in '40, though)

One thing I haven't yet addressed is the fate of Mexico in this timeline. The backstory of the original mod made some vague hints at an all-out Second Mexican-American War at some point in the 1910's (Mexico was a U.S. puppet at the start of the scenario and usually stayed that way through the entire game) and I've tentatively included that in this new iteration as well (Gen. Leonard Wood is elected President in 1920 after leading the campaign). So, whether to end U.S. mastery over Mexico or not could be one point of contest in the U.S. politics.

Right now I don't really have much in the way of alliances. I think this is as far I am:

"Axis": GER, AUS
"Allies": FRA (+RUS?)
"Comintern": [ENG/USA?] (It'd be kinda neat if the Brits had their own alliance with the Dominions and puppets that the Americans could later join if they want to wreck Fascist-lite France, buuuut I'm not sure. The U.S. had mastery over the third alliance in the original, having Mexico, Philippines, Cuba and Liberia by their side.)

We'll see what we can do, right? A War Plan Red could be in good order, at least ;)

And finally a completely gratuitous event picture I made

Well, these are some good news for sure. Need to start setting all the major US politics points in our heads now, so that it's an actual working system. BTW, once we're done with the French Civil War and post-civil war events, who's up next? Maybe Russia?

I'm not yet sure what the logical next location would be, but Russia's pretty good as it gets. Maybe we could do something related to the Polish and Finnish minorities...?

Break? Sure, take your time. I'm actually not sure how much help I'll be during the weekend, one of my brother's friends is turning 20 and I'm gonna tag along to celebrate it.

Sure, like choosing between decentralization and centralization. (Conflict with Germany when trying to eat Poland?) As I see it, Kyrill is the tough guy, centralizing everything that he sees, suppressing minorities and fighting against all the other majors (Or at least keeping them at a long distance), while Olga is an ultra liberal Empress, going for a British-style Empire, eventually granting semi-independence to all of the ethnically non-Russian countries, but keeping Russian parts: Crimea, Eastern Ukraine, Eastern Belarus, Karelia. What do you think?

A break? Hahaha, hell no, exactly the other way around -- I'm having a TON of stuff at work, will be riding on the metro from one end of the city to the other each day like crazy. RIP CrazyDerp, the event writer. :D

Well, not entirely. I mean, communists in this universe are not cool, so they're probably not getting a chance in US.

Maybe, but if the players demand communism, then we will contrive a reason for it to happen.

Do we have a map of this world yet, or is there a lot that is still undecided? I found a blank map of DH and filled in a bit where I could, if we need one.

I have a map, but it's too large for the forum. Care to post yours?

I can do that. I have been working on it tonight. I just finished up Africa, which is currently based off of the WW1 scenario. Possibilities of an independent Egypt at game start came to mind, as well as ideas for a Greater Liberia because I want Liberia to actually have events in this mod. Is there anything I have gotten wrong so far?

Well, you could just patch it up into pieces and post it like that, couldn't you?

Never mind, got it.

independent Egypt

What. The. Fuck.

I was planning the exact same thing! Unbelievable - well, guess it wouldn't hurt to have them in. Stab the British in the back if they're busy elsewhere, huh? Create a Greater Egypt by chopping off a piece of the Ottomans? Why not? :D

---

Note: the Chinese borders aren't quite finished yet, but that's the general idea. And yes, I may have made a few mistakes in Africa.

Yea, Egypt will have to have some cool options. I think that Britain would maintain control over the Suez and the Sinai as a sort of buffer between their Egyptian puppet and the Ottomans. I don't think the possibility of them both cooperating would escape their mind. Hell that could be a possible flashpoint for The Great War if Britain and the Ottomans end up on different sides.

EDIT: I finished up my copy of the map, fitting to your map with a couple fixes. One exception though, I modified the middle east a bit to see what you think of this idea.

Sometime in the 20s, Arab Nationalism was hurting the U.K. in Egypt and the Ottomans through much of their empire. Part of the problem was Hejaz, who had emerged with control over much of the Arab Peninsula after 1920. They were secretly agitating nationalists throughout the Arab World in an attempt to improve their position. A huge conference is held, and as a result Hejaz gets control of part of Jordan while Egypt becomes an autonomous part of the British Empire.

What happens in game is that neither the U.K. or the Ottomans like Hejaz, but as tensions heat up there is a possibility to court them. The British are seeking an ace in the hole vs The Ottomans, while The Ottomans are trying to convince Egypt to be their ace in the hole. Plus Hejaz and Egypt have the possibility of working together vs The Ottomans and probaly the U.K. given the right conditions.
