Hello all, I've been wanting to ask this for a while. If I were to create a mod that separates all of the world's nations (though the mod does mainly focus on European ones) into small states (1-2 provinces in Europe, 2-5 in most of the rest of the world, more in places like the Americas and China, Indonisia, and the north Asian Steppes, as there's more land to cover with less viable nations) would anyone be interested in playing it? If not, I would do as I've always done and simply create it 'for myself,' in other words leaving out details that I simply don't care about and that have no affect on gameplay. If there was interest though, I'd be happy to make an at least moderately fleshed out mod for the game, and certainly one that would be fully capable of delivering a very unique scenario and experience. I could work to describe this better, but I find it's easier with pictures (and I just so happen to have some from my EUIII mod, which I made ages ago for myself.
)
*Ignore the giant FRANCE label, the mod comes with all vanilla diplomatic ties and wars, etc. removed, a blank diplomatic slate, as it were, making the relationships sensible with the altered scenario as well as almost entirely 'organic.'
Edit: To give a little more perspective, the mod pictured has between 120-150 new nations added (I forgot the exact amount)and almost all vanilla nations used. The exception to the these points are colonial nations, of which 0 vanilla and 0 out of 20-30 or so new ones are missing at start, for obvious reason.
It's worth noting that with these modifications I do not strive for historical accuracy, as you'll see below, and some factors (like unique leader names for each individual nation, and such trivialities) simply don't register as important to me in mods this large. I work solely on the aspect of gameplay, making the experience fluid, stable, and most of all, unique. Even then, most oddities (such as leaders that have been alive for 200 years at game start, which has happend before in my old mod) usually only appear at the beginning of a game and quickly dissipate as time goes on.
Edit Again:
Download the original EUIII mod
Also, as discussed below, some names are very wrong, and some nations completely and utterly unrealistic. This is an issue with the EUIII mod, but I am going to put more effort into making the eventual EUIV mod much more polished.
