Yeah its a real shame because HOI3 looks terribly unattractive. HOI2 was ok but didnt provide the interest for me as it looked terrible. HOI3 unfortunately doesnt look any better and in fact is worse in some instances.

I can definitely see an opening for an expansion to include the Roman Empire from 1AD + including the Hordes and the rise of Christianity. And if there is I would really like to see a favourite characters option so you can track your favourites, more easily see their families, etc. I would also like to see more buildings and celebrations etc such as Gladiator contests, Christians vs lions etc etc etc
I'd take an expanded timeframe, but would clearly like to see improvements in gameplay and - to some extent - modding options as the main content. Ideally there would be major improvements in both land and naval combat or the military part in general, political systems (two consuls, dual kings when needed), diplomacy etc. I'm not so much into character management, but I'm sure there are enough people who want exactly that.
Great! Rome is the best Paradox game to date in my opinion (besides the good fact that investment on GFX was made on this one, you should use the same artists for the rest of the eu series). Maybe on the next Rome release you could include a shortcut to the characters when the message of a new ambition comes out. It is quite painful to scroll through the massive amount of characters to find the right one and help fulfilling his goals (specially with those latin names, they all sound the same
). And probably to include the currect faction level for each character (not a good idea to go and check on the save games each time).

There have been at least a couple of very, very length Crusader Kings threads about wish lists including everything from new features to simply fixing many old bugs, and nothing has come of any of it. Quite a few really weird and aggravating bugs still exist, and you've never mentioned adding any features over there.So past experience seems to sit on the side here of your latest game absorbing most of your resources. I personally think there's still much to be done in Rome to make it worthy (if different) partner to EU3, and so do quite a few others. But if you've got more than words to offer, in the form of another add-on, it's call time in poker. Show your hand.

I wouldn't waste my money on this game. I borrowed it and am really looking forward to returning it. Nothing about it is fun just frustrating, it plays like a game from 20 years ago - poorly!

Christianity probably lengthened the lifespan of the Western Empire by a couple of centuries. It was adopted during a period when the Empire was in decline and the traditional Roman values of citizenship and faith in civil institutions were waning and looking less appealing. Adopting a unified religion which offered the promise of salvation in the afterlife was a way of holding things together. And it worked. The Eastern Empire didn't fall until 1453, after all. That's another thousand years after the "fall of Rome".
Anyway, the thread about a possible EUIII expansion explicitly states that the new game team and the expansion team are not the same thing. Ergo, we could theoretically be seeing expansions/patches to existing games while a new game is still being worked on/released. (Although I gotta say, I can't wait for HOI III myself.)

The core of Paradox games are clearly not for everyone. They are sophisticated board game based programmes not only bringing you the possibility of playing against the ai but most importantly allowing an immense amount of in depth variables that would be impossible to implement on a board game. True I believe most will find this boring (also considering the complexity which I am sure adds to the frustration... also helped by the very poor explanation manuals by the way), but if you see what the masses go for is first person shooting games... I consider those to be horrendous. It is part of evolution intra-species specialisation, you can not have 95% of generals and 5% of soldiers right? then the most people would prefer the first person fighting than management
Well, there are brilliant shooters as well, in my opinion. Nevertheless, me heart goes for the strategy.
And although I know the war gaming of HOI is well done & complex, I prefer a CK-like playing style. Same goes for Rome (though the character system shoud have be done better)
