What's the worst luck you've ever had in a game of CK?
In my current Nubia game my king married a woman with high stewardship, she died in childbirth, he married again and had 2 children (his only successors).
He then got an illness and died leaving his 2 year old son in charge of Nubia. 14 years of praying Egypt would not invade ensued and finally he reached adulthood without me having to go to war with a prepubescent leader.
He marries a woman with high stewardship who dies in childbirth.
Oh, and did I mention the continual dysentery and every person elected as chancellor for some reason getting an illness within a month and dying soon after?

Now, I'm fairly certain this is actually quite mild in terms of bad luck, so share what you've got!
:D

Well, I started as the Duchy of Uppland with the final intent of unifying Russia. The game went well at first, with my conquering Latvia and Estonia after breaking away from Sweden, and soon I was getting the Base Tax 2 provinces out of Finland. After a bit of marriage and intrigue, I inheritted the Swedish throne, and soon began crusading in the Levant for Jerusalem, simply for the piety.

Next thing you know, the Kingdom of the Rus, which was simply -huge-, declared war, and 100,000 hordes of troops poured into the Swedish lands. The game continues as the Kingdom of Jerusalem, but.. :(

Well, my ruler had 8 sons, one died rather fast and the other seven died when they reached the age of 15, two on the same date....

Guess if I was angry, i ended up with a worthless bastard on my throne.

For them to reach 15 on the same day, they'd have to be twins, which don't exist in the game. Unless one was a bastard, in which case being born on the same date as another son is a big coincidence.

Not bad luck - I declared war after all - but the loss of my grandchild was a great loss :(

The kid was a brilliant strategist (M: 19 D: 10 I: 9 S: 12), and I hoped he will be the scourge of the golden horde, the mighty hungarian who stops the onslaught.
Oh, innter troubles in Byzantium, it wouldn't hurt to get those 2 provinces to get the serbian crown, no?
Well, after my DoW, they decided it is better to go back to Byzantium, who declared war inmediately.

Clash of titans it was... The kid held out with 8k men for a year, against all the might of the Byzantines, and he won every single battle. (destroyed at least 50k byzantines)

He was only 18 when he died in battle :(

I think he means that they died on the same day :) ... not that they had the same birthday.

Playing with Nubia is an invitation for bad luck. If there is a list of the unluckiest Christian CK realms, Nubia should be at the very top simply by virtue of their starting location :D

hehe ... indeed ... very tough, since in the later beta patches the muslims have become very agressive towards them :) ... but in older patches it was quite possible to prosper once Egypt falls apart.

Though in my current game, i have seen AI Nubia survive at least until the mid-1100s. Even grabbing Gizeh province. They are still around, much to my astonishment :)

I started a 1066 game as the Duke of Galloway. It was game over by 1075.

My liege, the King of Scotland, called me for me to mobilise in his service due to a little war with the Duke of Northumberland. Stupidly I agreed, which hands control of my regiments to the AI. I then watched as my regiments marched off next door to defend the King's lands leaving my own provinces open to invasion. The Duke of Northumberland conquered my provinces without opposition - my armies watched on from the safety of Edinburgh and when peace was concluded it was game over. :eek:o

Hey, I'm doing pretty well thank you.
It's in DVIP so I'm not sure if that makes a difference but Egypt fell apart beautifully and I got Cairo and surrounding area.
Also, apparently noone in my family can survive with just one wife, every single member of my family has had 2 and my current king has had 3.

One of the more frustrating things is when your ruler dies leaving a 4 year old son or something. This child then gets realm duress which lasts for 12 years but then he turns 16, he has great stats and you find a fantastic bride, the realm duress is over and they produce a male child. Then you start a war to win back a vassal who broke away and your 17 year old king dies in his first battle. Leaving a 0-year old child as the new ruler, who immediately gets realm duress.

I love this game :)

I'm keeping a log of my games with the intent of playing _every_ count through to the conculsion, what ever that may be. I'm into the D's. Anyway, a while back, I did have an game as Aargau (sp) where I took it nearly to WC - with some 11 King titles by ~1450; I had an old king with no heirs, and was hoping to hold out...but he died, and the first blood heir, through some strange linage, was the Duke of Tripoli, and nothing else. SO the Huge Empire; the 4 in the Isles, Norway, France, Burgundy, and the 5 in Spain/Portugal all passed to another name, but the line did not die, it degraded to a loser-line Duke in the far away Levant...just a few more years!
