Worst countries to face once they begin to blob?

Pretty much any nation can be pretty formidable if they blob.

I mean; there's the obvious ones which are frequently called the endgame bosses; like France and Ottomans.

However; a successful Spain and Portugal are in my opinion the worst.

Spain/Portugal are almost always allied. So you fight one; you fight both.

They are rich and spread out worldwide. And their combined navy is almost impossible to surpass unless you are GB or Japan with their high naval quality built-in.

And you have their swarms of colonial nations as well to deal with; as well as any other allies.

And the worldwide spreading also makes it really hard to get large gains from them; especially due to their geographical positions. You can fend them off your lands... but what can you take if you can't even get to Iberia?

Oh; and if Spain does fail; it means there's a Big Blue Blob.

I also once had to fight a horrifically blobbed Teutonic Order. As in; it had devoured most of Poland and Lithuania. It was terrifying. Quality is lower than Poland; but it's Western Tech; not plauged by the Elective Monarchy; [And Theocracies are good] and their Monastic Order makes them have forts everywhere.

France, Prussia, Commonwealth, Austria. Strong military national ideas and/or swarms of allies and mountain forts can seriously curb my enthusiasm, especially if I'm playing some tag with stuff like +tax, +merchants and trade steering in their national idea set.

well it was single player... it was a final boss for me XD I just wanted to play tall game didnt expect hardcore prussia AI XD
I mean... I was still killing more and still winning wars but every time I hit him he was hitting me almost equal XD
worst thing is I was denmark...
I LITERALLY WATCHED THAT THING BECOMING SUCCESFUL MONSTER AND ALLOWED IT BECAUSE I WAS BUSY WITH ENGLAND!

Fighting late game Ottomans on VH is already a pain in the ass due to their endless trash troops, fighting a late game Prussia is an absolute nightmare

I won wars... no doubt but I had 6 loans for little war score XD
after that moment you are not tring to kill 1000k basic troops...
you are fighting with %120 discipline quality army with 3 star general XD with %20 bonus morale

Not as a normal occurrence, but in my (what I assumed would be casual) attempt at the African Power Kongo achievement, imagine my surprise when I finally popped my head onto the north coast of Africa, only to find Portugal owning all of Morocco, Algiers & Tunis. They had almost all of South America as colonies. They had Spain (having already integrated Aragon & Naples), France (having eaten happily on Burgundy, Low Countries & parts of Northern Italy) & Great Britain under them in PU's, basically dividing Central & North America between them. And they were the the leader of the HRE.
Because I had played the run super casual, I was not militarily equipped for anything even remotely close to a monstrosity of that size. It was super impressive and definitely the most blobby thing I have ever managed to see an AI achieve.

My last WC I fought a massively blobbed out Prussia because I saved Europe for last. It was the closest I came all game to using a merc. I think I lost nearly every major battle in the first war despite outnumbering them by an absurd amount. I don't recall what Ideas they had but I was only running Offensive. I finally beat them by simply wearing them down and drowning them in blood. Once they were low on manpower I was able to hunt down their stacks and occupy their land.

In short, any nation which tends to take many miltary ideas. Or nations which have strong miltary ideas to begin with, f.e. Prussia.

A blobbed Prussia is a nightmare to run into with anyone. It's especially bad if you're playing one of the many nations without anything resembling strong military ideas. The fact that their armies are wrecking balls doesn't matter so much when they are limited to one or two full size armies, when they are blobbed out and have 5 or 6 though...

I strongly dislike playing against Milan, Tuscany or the Pope, or whatever Italian minor united Italy (without forming it). They always surprise me with the power they have and how large their armies are.

Whichever blobbed nomad nation that control the asian steppes. Not because of tech, NI's or military. The thing that makes me dread invading them is the travel distances between the provinces. It takes so long to travel there i just tend to avoid the region in most games.

I feel like the hardest offensive wars are against GB and Japan due to them usually having much bigger armies than you can get to cross to their respective islands.. Defensively, well, it depends mostly on who you are playing. Ottomans, surely. Great Britain if you are a native american.. Russia can be quite boring if you're EoC, because they attack your tributaries one after another, drawing you in consecutive long and unsettling wars.. A strong Persia can be a real pain sometimes..
