It's not an uncommon point of view. Of course, while the involved countries did spread over six continents, Europe was the one which saw most of the fight, if not all of it, so the global nature of the war is pretty shaky.

Same applies to the Great War. Some people considered the Seven Years' War to be the original World War I, but there's a long list of contenders as it seems.

But in this case, Ottomans is supporting the Catholic Austrian side.

Who knows why. Youd need a clean screenshot of the world. Maybe Austria has been reduced to just a few provinces. Maybe Moscovy has exploded into horde lands, and Ottomans now see them as the biggest thread. Or maybe its a bug. Is that France or one of the French minors beside Netherlands?
