Hi all, Just picked up this game and really enjoying it so far.

Just some questions about the expeditions in the world map.

So my specialists that are exploring the map find a location with a resource. I search the site and take the resources, then with no cool down or overloading the specialist, every turn take the resources until they are all gone.
  • Should there be a cool down?
  • If I can just pick up all the resources turn after turn, why can't I just pick them all in one go?
  • Do the resources for that site come back or replenish over time?
  • Or once I have taken everything from that site it is empty from then on?

The world map exploration looks like a great feature to the game, that could really open up some cool ideas. I have only been playing the game for a little while but am interested in what can be found out in the map.

CANCEL THAT, AFTER PLAYING LONGER IT HAS BEEN EXPLAINED!
The pop up with the tips got stuck but now after I hit skip it started again. A tip explaining the exploring came up with most of the details I was after.

I am still curious to see if the resources emptied from a site with people defending it, replenish over time. I can understand if we raid a site with no one looking after it, that the resources would never come back. If the site has people looking after it, are they gathering those resources we stole... and therefore, they will have more gathered soon?

Note that taking a resource uses up all their movement points to do so. So you're losing the opportunity cost of taking a resource, or moving.

Each specalist has a scavenge trait. The higher the trait the more resources they can get per search.

Resources are a one shot deal so once you take everything from it, its gone for good.

Thanks very much for the detailed answer satoru.

Now I understand the world map better, I must admit it is a very addictive part of the game. Exploring to see if i can find the resources I need back at base. I am getting close to the edges of the map in my first game and will be disappointed to run out of things to find!

Additional question...
If the resources in the world map do not replenish is it possible to run out of things needed in your town?

I am on my first play through still but that sounds like it would end the game pretty fast. Run out of critical items on the world map, you can't keep building on the local one.

Yes. Anything you cannot make or mine can run out. Fun boxes and electronic components, most notably.

Whether there's any plan to change that who knows.

Pretty much the only resource that is 'theoretically' infinite is wood - with foresters you can continually plant new trees.

There are other resources that are 'non-exhaustible but have practical upper limits'

1) water - though the map more or less dictates teh maximum water you can produce
2) food - I mean you could spam fish huts and hunter huts, but again you're going to max out the amoutn of food these produce

Everything else will eventually exhaust. Plastic/metal deposits will eventaully run out which means clothings/tools/etc will too. components are limited by what is on the over map

Hopefully as the game develops, they find ways to prolong the end game if the player chooses to play on. I would imagine once everything has run out on the world map that is a pretty fast show stopper.

Then again they could just do the "then there was an attack by raiders" or "there was an earthquake".... etc etc and we need to make a fresh start somewhere on map #2.
