Hi Fernando!!!! It's been a while. Glad to see a new update out.

installed fine after a couple of tries. I am going to release an AI improvement pack for wif 2. i have my old files and after reviewing the ai files and events i don't see alot of changes. I have updated my files to the new version. just the misc. file really and am play testing.

I'm wanting to download the graphics pack but when I click the link in the first page I am just getting these endless offers to download chrome extensions and other apps. I can't seem to find the actual download to save my life. Any hints?

HI, yes, just slide across the screen to the right and click the yellow download box. that should do it. I DL an app also and had to go in and remove it. Also, the graphics pack goes in the Darkest hour main directory and the wif music goes into the mods/worldinFlames2 folder. good luck.

I remember what the last thing I was looking at for WIF2 and it was the land doctrine. Not a big fan. I am working on GDE and limiting it's effect and changing morale and org for Sov and Ger. Less changes for others. I am looking at having the uK in with the USA land doc and France alone.

Okay, I have just started playing this mod and I am loving it. I have been playing for a few days now. Now, the norway invasion by germany is driving me crazy. I couldnt by land enter Narvik, just wouldnt let me move any troops there. Then redoing the attack with transports, I cant get all three groups to invade as one group as one transport group needs to regroup at base when trying to land troops. this is driving me crazy. the time is in jan, if the weather prevents a person from going into Narvik.

IIRC It is a strait, so the navy can stop land movement.

What's the strategy for USA? Do you just build industries pre-war? I opted out of that since ships take forever to build and now I'm entering WW2 at 390 effective IC and that's just not going to happen. It's even tougher since you get slapped with some 10 dissent after Pearl Harbor.

But if I build industry, I won't have a meaningful navy for WW2.

Hello.

Is click and drag to move the map disabled in this or did DH just never have it to begin with?

Also is there a complete change log? Doesn't seem like much (if anything) has changed when I look at the tech tree, for example (though the graphics and music have changed for sure).

Hi all,

Been a while since I've been in those forums, happy to see WiF is still alive and being updated. I've got some questions regarding install instructions.

1. The "DH_Official_Graphic_Pack_for_DH1.04", not the one that is in OP (but this is a newer version), has 3 folders inside: gfx, map, Mods. Do you copy these folders to the base DH folder after making a copy of the DH full folder as advised in the instructions, or did I understand it wrong? Or do you put them in the World in Flames 2 folder (and don't copy Mods folder as is, but go into it, then Darkest Hour Full, then copy the config, db, gfx and scenarios folders)?

Here is how I installed the mod:

A. Enable 1.05.1 in Steam for DH.
B. Made a copy of Mods/Darkest Hour Full, renamed to World in Flames 2.
C. Copied gfx, map, Mods folders from DH_Official_Graphic_Pack_for_DH1.04 to base DH folder. Main worry I have here is if this needs to be done prior to step B, or after, or actually put this stuff in World in Flames 2 only. It seems like simply dropping this to the base DH folder makes it work properly, as dropping it to World in Flames 2 gets rid of some specific graphics that's easy to spot, like the 33 scenario graphics.
D. Copied everything inside WifMusic to World in Flames 2.
E. Copied everything inside WorldinFlames to World in Flames 2.
F. Copied World in Flames 2 to Mods.

Checksum is JAEN.

Is that correct?

2. How is this mod regarding multiplayer compatibility, with 33 campaign (as 33 campaign seems to be the recommended campaign here). Sure, it's mostly aimed at a SP, 1933 Germany run but is it fine for multiplayer use?

PS: In addition, why the need for so many archives? Is it not possible to:

1. Since the DH graphic pack is "official", why not push it to Steam?
2. Same for 1.05.1, it seems like it was released about a year ago, but you still need to access it via the betas tab on Steam. Most users don't know how to do this probably. Why hasn't 1.05.1 been officially pushed to Steam?
3. For the first 2 points, Fernando worked on DH, so maybe he knows (or anyone else from DH team checking this post, if someone sees it). Now, assuming the previous 2 points get done, is it not possible to make a World in Flames 2 download link? A Google Drive link, as that should be very fast for everyone, which has everything as it should be? That is, Mods/Darkest Hour Full folder copy + music mod + WiF applied, and also add the graphic pack (if it needs applying to this mod folder or directly to base DH folder, which I don't understand yet).

With this all done, all a user needs to do is: download that folder from Google Drive, put it in Mods folder, start launcher, select World in Flames 2, and it's done. It makes everything much easier for everyone, much lower chance of failed installation (from what I've read here, install issues happen quite a bit here), better troubleshooting, more players might play the mod as it's easier to install, etc. I would very much like all the 3 points above to be done, but alas, I'm but a single man.

Another question: How do you upgrade unit types? I clicked the little plus sign then selected the thing from the drop down menu but then nothing happened.
It just takes time and IC allocated to updating/upgrading your units. E.g. updating from INF to MOT takes quite some time and IC, while doing so from MIL to INF is somewhat cheaper.

I did notice a bug with the way I installed it.

At the start of the 1933 scenario, the Weimar flag isn't working, you have the Nazi one in the top left (when installing the graphic pack into the base DH folder). I assume the Mods/Darkest Hour Full part from the graphic pack actually needs to go into Mods/World in Flames 2, then, as that fixes it. You also get the PzIV in the technology tab after, as well as some other differences. I'm wondering if the other 2 folders in the graphic pack (gfx and map) require copying to Mods/World in Flames 2, before and/or after the Mods/Darkest Hour Full folders/files are copied.

Bottom line, the instructions aren't clear enough, unfortunately. At least for me.

Why can't i launch the game?
installed as in instruction, after i press launch game via launcher instead of starting the game it did nothing. The background process is there though, but it's only took about 5k memories or so.

Edit: i think what caused the error is the mod specific graphics pack, tried installing it into vanilla DH Full and encountered the same problem. The map color works fine in vanilla though.

Hi all,

Here is my ai update for Wif2. I have worked on the ai files and balance. I will post a link in this thread and then start a new one.

Sorry for all the install problems. best i can say is that each extra pack should over write a couple of files and if it doesn't then that pack was not installed correctly. I have a post a page or 2 back where i explain how i installed it.

if it doesn't work delete the folder and start over.

Now, back to the update. I have worked on alot of the ai files and events. I have deleted alot of the free units and removed alot of the bonuses. I have set the normal diff. to all zero's so play on normal. I did not do a readme file. Install in the Wif2 folder. and it is for DH ver. 1.05.1. I will do a readme on next update to explain changes more. On each game i have played the Sov ai has between 367 and 400 total divisions by May 41. Me, as Ger has between 160 and 180.

why rename the mod folder and then copy the graphic pack and mod pack into the game. why rename it world in flames 2 first, not after ???
You have to copy DH Full Mod first. Since you can have only one folder with that name, you have to create a new folder and rename it to WiF II (or whatever you want). Then you copy the files from the DH Full folder into this new folder. After that you copy the files from the zip-file into your new folder and overwrite the "old" files when asked what to do.

Make sure to unzip the files at a different location first. Sometimes the zip-files have a folder in a folder.

You have to copy DH Full Mod first. Since you can have only one folder with that name, you have to create a new folder and rename it to WiF II (or whatever you want). Then you copy the files from the DH Full folder into this new folder. After that you copy the files from the zip-file into your new folder and overwrite the "old" files when asked what to do.

Make sure to unzip the files at a different location first. Sometimes the zip-files have a folder in a folder.
