'Workshop Bombing'?

Hello everyone.

While browsing the Steam workshop for new Stellaris mods I've noticed that nearly half of all the mods in the "Latest"-tab are titled something along the lines of "Chinese Localization" (often uploaded by users with a string of random numbers as their username).

What's the point of this? Is it butthurt players flooding the workshop with junk to ruin it for everyone? Some sort of shitty "workshop bombing" as a continuation of "review bombing"?

Yes. And actually, it's been ongoing for months.

There is a feature where you can report such mods. The support team will then take a look at this and decide what to do. Spammer accounts will get banned from workshop if they were reported too often.

I'm aware. You get an e-mail telling you how many were removed. I'm approaching 2000. It doesn't stop the spamming. Spammers/spambots just make a new account. The submission process to the workshop needs more. Registering an account as a modder to some kind of curated database would help.

Sorta. It's an arrangement between PDX and Valve. Trance is an employee of PDX and moderates the Steam discussions and has stated he's involved with dealing with workshop spam.

He wasn't too pleased with my collection of spam though. I removed it - it wasn't achieving anything.
