Works on Windows, Not on Linux

So I've been playing CKII for a year and a half on my laptop with Windows 7, and while it does crash every once in a while, I have no other problems. My graphics card (if you can call it that) is 256 MB, which explains the crashes.

I installed Linux a bit ago and decided to try CKII on it. The launcher (where you can enable/disable DLC/mods) doesn't show up and the game freezes the computer during the splash screen. Why is this? Any known problems/solutions?

I'm using Steam. Linux crashing isn't too rare, but this is happening consistently. Any other needed info please ask. Thanks in advance. (I will keep playing CKII on Windows until I can get it to work on Linux, but Linux is SOOOO much better otherwise that I'd like to switch.)

There is no official Linux launcher yet. There are a couple of player-made ones available over in the User Mods forum.

Your video card is way below The published specs for the game on Linux:

ATI Radeon HD 6750 / NVIDIA GeForce 320 / NVIDIA GeForce 9600 or higher, 1024MB graphics memory required

What exact Linux distro? Are you using the custom Linux video driver from your vendor? The default ones that Linux comes with will never run the game.

Ahah! I didn't know there were different requirements for Linux. That may be the problem, thanks.

Ubuntu 13.10 btw.

EDIT: I switched to the better driver (don't know why I wasn't already using that one) and it works now.
