Due to my name, it will probably surprise no one that I want to set up a communist state as early as possible, specifically in germany or brazil. How would I go about this? Also, I hear a lot of countries have different flags when they go communist. How many have them? Does canada? Because I would love to create a Peoples Republic of Canada, complete with flag. :D

There are a few ways to do this.

First, you can let commie rebels take over your capital and hold it for a year. That will trigger the commie government event. Or, you can leave half your land under commie rebel control for a year. That'll trigger it too, but, you have to have enough commie rebels to pull it off, which, at the start of the game, is unlikely to happen.

Second, you can manually trigger the government change in the console (F12).

Be careful, though, becuase, though it may surprise you, most POPs aren't socialist, so they're liable to hate the new government and revolt. But that can be overcome. Just don't think it'll be clear sailing all the way (as if it ever is).

About the flags. You can see them all in C:\Program Files\Strategy First\Victoria\gfx\map\shields. Canada, sadly, has no special communist flah, but Brazil's got a spiffy one.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes,
Memnon

Half the country plus the capital triggers the revolution right away ;)

You can understand that a rebellion is a communist one after checking which POP rebeled in the province I guess.

I am playing as France and I am around 1890. I still have very few Socialist POP's (1% or something). Why? Am I supposed to do anything special, not granting reforms or very high taxation?

And also I never saw a country being turned into Communist. Is it to early?

I once went to a RP forum with some starch pro-Communists.

In terms of flags, I'm most impressed by the one for Texas.

High taxes are always helpful if you wanr more of your pops to turn socialist.

High taxes make my POP's emmigrate. And if I have a Laisser-Faire goverment high taxes are not allowed.
Is there a cheat for installing a communist goverment?
Have you ever seen an AI controlled nation being turned to communist?

I once saw Russia taken over by a Proletarian Dictatorship and simulateously release Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland (Ukraine and Crimea had revolted previously). I think commie rebels took the capital. Not a good game for Russia.

Yeah I didn't know about the whole going communist changing flags, so the first time I saw Two Scilies with a commie flag I was freaking out.

I think my favorite communist state has to be the Manhattan Commune that the US can create as a satellite. I don't know why you would, but the idea is funny.
