I usually go for worker efficiency II as well. It's terribly expensive in IC and chokes your research/production. That can lead into poland campaign dragging until -40 plus french campaign postponed until -41..

But your wartime production in -40 gets a real kick in the pants. Not sure if it's a smart policy or not..!

Phew ! That's not going to leave you long to defeat the allies on the western front before you have the Sovs attacking you somewhen in 1942 :(

Once the allies DoW on you the longer you leave them free to build with their wartime economies (lower support costs in top slider) the more trouble you are storing up for yourself. I did try the WE2 reseach path myself but found that I didn't have the number or quality of units to be able to do anything on the eastern front and the game became a stalemate.

Hmm. Perhaps going for WE2 after a successful French campaign would be a plan ? I may have to give that a go :)

Went back to HOI yesterday after playing through Lords of Magic.

No matter what I do, this game keeps drawing me back.

:)

btw N!ghtY :

my current strategy against France :

1. get military access in Spain

2. invade Yugo

3. transport my army to Spain

4. hit France in the rear

One thing though : Amsterdam is becoming untakeable. Even with total superiority it just doesn't fall and your entire army gets wasted. I recommend making the Dutch slightly less powerful.

a different strategy

i like to build transports and fill them with troops and position them off the french coast. then when i DoW on france, i land them and force france to fight a two front war. the only problem is that i have to a achieve a quick breakout or i lose alot of troops. its basically just a way to distract the ai.:D
