Hi,

I just wanted to say that I do respect You guys for the price/dlc/etc policy that You use.
I do understand that there must be a strong push to monetize product but what You have been doing to this date I find honest.

Thank You.

Why:
1. No matter what version of pre-order I decide to buy the final product (gameplay wise) will be THE SAME.
Ok, some visuals may be different but that is it, I will not miss playable factions, items, campaigns etc.
2. When a major update comes out vanilla version is also being improved as much as possible.
3. Visuals etc being sold separately.

Why it matters so much to me. I like when company is doing business in a honest way. In my country average wage (monthly!) is around 340 - 560 euros so we do value our money and think before we spend it.

That`s why I have decided to pre-order Your game and not to wait for some big sale in a year or so.
I simply don't feel afraid that I will be tricked into semi product.

FYI. Here are some examples of companies gone rouge:
- Civ V - I don't mind to pay for big expansions like "gods and kings" but being forced to pay for separate map packs or COUNTRIES is evil, same if they introduce some countries in the expansion yet not provide update for vanilla version!
- Total war series - they suck deeeeep! Locking off factions just to sale them in pre-order dlc is so stupid that I have stooped to buy their games completely!
I don't want to pay extra just to have some faction available!

#respect
Good Luck!

Don't praise them too early. It is entirely possible we get country packs as DLC that greatly affect gameplay. Granted, they are not locked out completely.

To be honest I was shocked when I got my hands on CK2 and found out I couldn't play half the map without expansions, and only later got somehow fine with that upon learning that they really did never intend to make all that playable in the first place and only did so on public demand. And when gobbling up everything for 80% off of cause.

At the moment, I could not even say if I rather want to pay for improved gameplay of one country and get general mechanics for free or the other way around. I guess the solution is to buy it all. Its obviously better than getting nothing for free ;)

But CK2 is CK2. Eu, Victoria and HoI did not have that problem. And as far as i know, thats the way with stellaris.

Rigth now i trust Paradox and because of that did pre-order, what i would never do with any other game.
Paradox has earned that trust trough theyre way of how they did act until now. Thats why i agree with SushiMaker.

And until they not change totally and...lets say cut out stuff like "Play as Germany DLC" , that wont change.
Seriously, cutting out germany would be like cutting out playable Chaos in Warhammer. :D..... oh wait.

You see, I have bought basic CK2 game in some kind of sale and It felt as a complete product.
Later I have bought the dlcs for it in other sale and they felt worth their money.

But from my personal exp devs don't get usually praise they deserve when they are doing good job so the motivation can go down in time.
And that is the point of this thread to let them feel that we support and appreciate good policy.

To me it seems PI are shifting towards AAA bad behaviour.
They have been great in the past but now they are pulling some weird moves like season passes and geo-locks.
Looks like they want to play with the big boys but they usually don't play nice.

Lets hope I am wrong.

I dint felt it that way.

1. You get exactly the same content in all pre-order packs.
- accept additional visuals, that you will be also able to buy in some later dlcs

My friend decided to buy the cadet version simple because he will use the NATO symbols only so he does not need 3d model packs.

2. Season pass is same price as you would have bought that 2 dlcs at the release.

Basically: you can buy the cadet game version and your game will be as good as anyone's. And if in time you want you can still buy that dlcs when they come out.

And the Geo-Lock is German governments thing. If you are mad about that go and flame on Merkel and her lackeys.

Indeed. THe DLC policy back in Empire days didn't aggravate so much, but now I wont buy TW games till they're complete and in a steam sale years later.

I'm just worried that PDS is going the same rout. Slipper slope arguments are normall a load of bull, but having watched so many companies slip down this one.... Make sme nervous.

One thing I preordered from creative assembly was fall of the samurai which I very much enjoyed. Then I preordered Rome 2 and stopped buying total war games. With the original Rome I remember losing my army, but then crushing out the enemy with my general. Pdx dlc model is very different still.

HOI III was uncut on steam, because german laws didn't cover digital products. They have since been updated to cover that loophole and Paradox are bound to uphold them or risk having the game outright banned in Germany.

By the way, games can't show nazi simbols, because in Germany, games are considered as toys and not art, so aren't included in the exception to censorship.

If you are mad, you should direct that anger towards german politicians, who can change the laws, and not Paradox, who is powerless to do anything about it.

Paradox them selves should have made such statement openly so there would not be continuous discussion about it.

would you rather pay 60 bucks like most games, and have a bunch of the sprite packs and dlcs that you wouldnt normally buy included, or have them pieced out so you can purchase them when and as you see fit?

I personally think that any game that has over 3-5 dlcs is shamelessly doing a cash grab, but in paradox's case, their games are played for years and years by dedicated fans. Most games have a shelf life of a few months to a year tops, and keep adding useless dlc for something that most people wont spend more than a few hours exploring.
