Won the battle but can't take province.

I was playing as Duke of Munster, southern Ireland. I had a de jure claim on Desmond just south of me and eventually declared war and laid siege. Won the war and took all the baronies, but all I can do is a white peace. Why can't i force the claim? It is greyed out as a choice in the peace choices. I don't want to white peace and have wasted all my men's lives.

It's probably something I don't know about the rules. help please.

Not true, you can press it if your foe has lost all holdings and armies. They will say "I have been soundly defeated" or some such in the opinion tab at the bottom.

My guess is that the buttons are just confusing at first.

"I Win" is the top button, which always starts greyed out. Since you're not winning at first, it's the "Send" button that won't do anything for you. Once you have in fact won, the Send button is now lit up and available, but the top "I Win" button looks greyed out, but that's only because it's still pre-selected. In other words, just hit Send and you're asking for your winnings. Or wait a bit and your opponent will offer.

If this isn't true, and you have in fact won the war, then there must be some confusion of what the war was over. He wasn't excommunicated, was he? If so all you can do is defeat and embarrass him, you don't get his lands for winning that kind of war.

The war was 100% won. he said he was beaten. I still have my army in the province and he has no troops. All the holdings are captured. But the peace process does not have claim highlighted. Thanks for the help.

Mousing over the greyed out "Enforce demands" in the offer peace window says : "Earl Tadg: Duke Murchad I of Munster becomes new liege" Does this mean that I'm trying to make him acknowledge me as King and why it is not allowed?

How does one capture the province then.. Maybe if i assassinate him...

Mousing over the province says that all holdings are occupied by my troops.

It's not greyed out, it's selected. Just click the Send button.

What a ducal claim means, is that you're forcing a count ruling in your de jure duchy (but outside your realm) to acknowledge you as his rightful liege. You don't get the land directly, you just make him your vassal.
