So I won the crusade and got the Kingdom but as I got the new lands I lost my vassals in part of Egypt I already controlled. Could someone please explain why some of my vassals were transferred to the target of the crusade at the same time I got the lands he controlled in Egypt?

edit: ah the attach file worked :D

Crusade mechanics were reworked with patch 3.0. Do you have Holy Fury?

The new mechanics are described here: https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/Crusades,_Jihads_and_Great_Holy_Wars#Patch_3.0_Crusades

Assuming that you had the largest contribution to the crusade: Who was your chosen beneficiary of the crusade? Did you make the decision to take the titles regardless of your chosen beneficiary? The other participants in the crusade are also able to appoint some of their own dynasty members as beneficiaries, were any of them of the same dynasty of the crusade target and if they died he may have inherited the titles that they got?

Why would any of this cause the lands he already held to go independent? Crusades aren't supposed to do that. If everything within Egypt went independent then sure WAD, assuming he didnt take it all for himself. But he did, so this seems buggy as hell

I do not have Holy Fury yet, I started this game to test the new patch and got stuck with this 700 year play when things started going well so I wanted to finish it first.

I had the largest contribution, by far, somewhere around 90 %, and I had not chosen any beneficiary as there was no one suggested by the pope and I wanted it myself I simply did not choose one which should be the equal to choosing yourself as you get the selfish crusader rephit.

If anyone else appointed a beneficiary I don't know, but the lands I lost (Sinai and the other two counties) were held by my son and two non-related mayors. They became the vassals of the target of the crusade so they are now vassals of the same Muslim ruler we fought a war to conquer...

The new crusade mechanics were included in the free patch that was released alongside Holy Fury, so everyone has them if their CK2 game is up to date. Only the new unique crusades (children, fourth, reconquest, northern) are in Holy Fury.

Be that as it may, I still, however, fail to see what part of the new mechanics makes the Christian winner of a crusade against a Muslim ruler lose vassals to said Muslim when WINNING the Crusade. I won and immediately lost my direct vassals in the de jure kingdom I just conquered and they became vassals of the Muslim ruler who no longer holds the de jure title over them. If no one can explain this I'm going to post in the bug section and see what the heck is up with this.
