My assumption from the start of all this has been that Synthetic Ascension synths will simply be immune to radicalization. That's all I expect.

But the point of the Machine Conciousness is that it hates organics, while it could certainly dislike you for not being a part of it it would not have the same fanatical hatred for you if you were synthetic, kind of like how fanatical purifiers hate aliens first and foremost, the machine conciousness is after all basically an AI fanatical Purifier. At the very least I would expect their messages to be somewhat different in how they insult you.

But the question is... will my space foxes still look like space foxes after becoming robotic? WILL THEY STILL BE FIERCE AND INTIMIDATING?
Nope, boring synth portrait incoming. :(

And the point of the Crises is that they're dangerous. I don't expect you to be able to circumvent them- there are plenty of places in the game where lore takes a back-seat to game mechanics.

I wouldn't be 100% surprised if there were a different synthetic body type for every species type. So you could have a robot humanoid design, robot mammals, robot fungus people, and so on.

There would probably only be one for each species though unless they go above and beyond with the synthetic ascension (or release a cosmetic DLC), so they wouldn't necessarily resemble your specific people. Just have the same general shape, but what do little details like that matter when you are a perfect, immortal machine?

Being diplomatic with them could hold it's own set of disadvantages, such as everyone else hating you, which would certainly compensate in terms of difficulty. Anyway, the point I made was not that it should be made that much easier to deal with them, just different.

Yeah, but if I'm playing cockroaches they no longer make any sense whatsoever... :(
Strictly speaking, synth portraits don't make sense for when you're playing humanoids. Why upload if you're just gonna walk around as a metal person? Get exotic. Fork yourself. Exist in any state you can imagine.

(A single Synth portrait is convenient shorthand for "robot" and while multiple options would be neat I have no expectation of the art time wasting time working on them when they have better things to be doing)

It'd be great if we could rename species we uplift or even enlighten as well too. Heck for uplifted species it'd be cool if we could even choose the namelist they'd use.

Also it's hard to see, but that's a colonized Mars in the background. They've already talked about some barren, frozen, etc. planets having the ability to be terraformed, but I thought I'd point that out.

Yeah, renaming species is a must, especially with that syncretic evolution start. But now that this is actually possible if the game doesn't let you do that already mods will fix it.

Yup, and they also said that Mars will ALWAYS be avaible for terraforming. So... Choosing Sol system is a cheat confirmed?

Basically if you have a planet (that's isn't inhabitable) that has a special trait on it, AND have the appropriate Ascension perk (Shaper of Worlds I think), you can terraform them

Do you keep species traits when you become synthetic?

Why would you? They are genetical and you have foregone that, I would like to see synth-specific traits so that you could specialize from just being the standard boring versions and so that you can actually compete with the diverse benefits that gene-modding brings. If you are just going to be standard synths then you might as well have ignored that ascencion path entirely and instead just built tons of synths to replace your species that way.

Question...how would keepers of knoweldge react to this?

And follow up question, what if they demanded that a synthetic empire became their satellite?

Human body is know as one of the more flexible and adaptable, maybe not as good has a specialist body in a concrete area but definetly one of the best Jack of all trades in the nature.

Try to imagine something more usefull that a human hand. Obviously a robot could have 6 pairs of arms but at the end of each one of them you will find something really similar to your hand, even nearly all the existing xenos in the game are basicaly handed. On the other hand, that's the joke, the whole world is human shape designed, if you swicth the hole population to nonhumanoid synthetic forms of life then you will have a terrible problem.

True, but you can make them marginal enough for them to no longer matter. You need to plan for that from the game's start though.

If I'm uploaded, why would I want to live in human cities and do human things?

Why wouldn't I use a body that lets me do other things- a body designed for deep space, for the crushing atmosphere of gas giants, etc? A networked collective of synthetic butterflies that let me dive through clouds and read a million books of poetry?

The human body is only "the most flexible" because it's the only one we've encountered with advanced intelligence- but octopi are highly adaptable too with tentacles, and birds can solve puzzles and make tools with their talons and beaks, and some ants manage agriculture with mandibles and teamwork.
