i think the graphics of that old gem will make you puke after 2min in game. If you manage to reinstall it from floppy and on new OS.
that game definitely needs a remastered Version one day or a sequel.
Defo a remastered one would be amazing.... but i had to rebuy it on steam last year. totally worth it cause it works fine in windows 10 - the old version, even the win95 CD has issues with sound.
also i thought it might be an internal view from one of the habitats out into space but i guess not.
Dysphon sphere would be cool
if they do it thought it wont be buildible. My guess is they will follow the star trek method where it cant be detected because it emits no light (ye ye gravity smavity)
so its a hidden system and an event chain leads us to it. Something insane like 500+ pop count habitable so its discovery is a new end game crisis and war erupts for control of it (and yes the league of powers that want a galaxy wide embargo on the system so noone gets to use it)

My friends, a Dyson Sphere:
That's a cool conception of a dyson sphere. I see one problem though, the spires connecting the high inclination ring (or maybe the camera is at a high inclination) to the sphere are going to collide with the closer in rings as it rotates. Actually, the spires aren't even neccesary.

Also my favorite 4x game of the 90s: Star Wars Rebellion! Won my first game by destroying with Deathstar all planets except corouscant.
It's possible it's a Dyson sphere, possibly something you'll discover as an artefact, or perhaps a late-game "wonder" like the Suez canal in EU4.

Yeah, nothing wrong with TIE Fighter's graphics either way, that's what graphics were like back in the day, and that's part of the charm

It's also different from the more common 'complete shell' conception of a Dyson Sphere.

Personally, if we were going to get a Dyson sphere, I'd want a "realistic" one- i.e. a swarm of solar collection satellites encompassing the star. That's what Dyson actually proposed; not that you'd build a shell, or a lattice (which makes no sense given the function of a Dyson sphere, a lattice minimizes the collection surfaces for chrissake), but that you'd convert all available materials into orbital solar panels.
I really think that a "dramatized" version of that would be pretty visually striking; imagine something like that concept art, but instead of the lattice, it's all those triangular platforms orbiting the star in patterns, concentric incomplete spheres nested around each other and slowly orbiting in different directions, light leaking out from the seams between them...
