If you "dismantle" and later decide to replace, that is 5K minerals and some Influence wasted versus getting them for FREE when you conquer.

In order to get Scrap, you will have to bring a Scrap Hauler. Good luck getting one of those on the open Market. lol ;)
I guess the option is mostly for RP reason and also if you want to make them lose a habitat far from your border (e.g. in their home system).

Seems a lot of fiddly diplomacy UI work when they should pop like a starbase.
My estimation for a pop is about 500,000,000 Humans. The figure is kept abstract, but it is a lot per pop.
A habitat fit's 12 pops (for the time being).

Do the math how many BILLIONs you would kill when "popping them like a space station". There is not the proper kind of Diplomatic penalty and mechanics that would allow the game to properly react to that kind of Atrocity.

I would say a billion a pop.You can eat aliens in this patch anyway so not valid. It would be seen as collateral damage like when we dropped lots of bombs on granndads and kids in WW2.Nobody outside of Germany cared.

It's basically the same as purging a planet full of pops. Evil, definitely, but not unprecedented in this game.

...Did you mean Japan?

And people will HATE you for eating those people.

Out of the 60 Million dead in WW2, only 6 million were german. The whole losses of WW2 do not even register compared to a single pop units estiamted size.

And the carpet bombing was kind of nessesary, to avoid a second "Stab in the back" myth. So poor analogy again.

Nein, he means the counter-blitz/British carpet-bombing of many german cities near the end of the war.
Bombing a city is vastly different from bombing an entire orbital habitat, and I presume that one large enough to house several pops (however many people they are) would be at-least somewhat resistant to weaponry.

I'm not quite sure I understand. It is entirely possible to purge an entire 25 tile planet, or multiple simultaneous purges of multiple 25 tile planet's worth of a species or pops with a specific ethos or faction. Evil, yes. Can cause decades upon decades long unrest among your remaining pops based on their ethos and eternal and insurmountable hatred from surrounding civilizations. But you can do it.

And excuse me if I don't understand new warscores, I'm hold off starting a new game until 1.5 comes out, but are purges part of negotiations or is it forced displacement? Because, based off this reasoning of atrocity based off populations size, "cleanse planet" would always be off the table in any negotiations. If "dismantle" means every pop dies, its off the table. If "dismantle" means relocation to the civ's existing available planet tiles and excess is forced to refugee to neighboring systems, that's something else. And if it isn't about the negotiations table, but the ability to destroy a space station, we can already do that. Bigger, more reinforced and shielded stations just mean they have higher health and take longer to destroy. Taking away the player's ability to destroy them based off of the mechanic not being there is one thing. But denying the player the ability to roleplay evil because it is evil is another. We can already roleplay evil as the game stands currently.

Well, the same is true for planets, after all (I mean, we have the tech NOW to wipe out all human life on our planet; for sure by the time we have the ability to travel across the galaxy, bombard a planet and land troops, we could sterilize the planet just as easily).
