Just make a rule about the Low Countries. Have them be off limits for the first 20 years. Then Austria will be able to inherit them as they should, and there will be no problems.

another note is , if hg thinks there to many players however nobody to compete with china in east asia , add a player as nippon , southindia or somethng south of china , if edited both nippon and southindia would have a change for further competition in asia , and right now it seems to me europe is crowded yet some asians got free ride to become a monster

Agreed. Vijayanar, Bengal, and Nippon are all perfectly viable if touched up a little bit.

Drake,

Aye. South India in particular.

The problem is, the changes that'd need to be made to give them even the remotest chance against China are grossly ahistorical and unbalancing.

Let's see how many players we actually have as of now before getting too deeply into the discussion.

Vijayanar with those uninhabited provinces + a CoT wouldn't be ahistorical and coudl well be quite strong. Bengal is an option, but I agree they'd need extra edits, most notibly culturewise, and with either they should not be allowed to eat Delhi before Timurids get there. Nippon would be an interesting naval nation, if given a couple of extra explorers and a better position to get a navy.

Edit: Some time ago I think I said Vijayanar would be an option for gamebalance if we have enough players and I still think having them would be a good idea. They would be good competition for the Mughals so they wouldn't get South India, and be able to inflict massive damage on Persia, and they would certainly spice up the typical cruisey diplomacy and twiddling of thumbs that seems to be a custom when playing an Asian nation.

Well if you guys want to start 1 hour early. I'm afraid I am going to have to pull out. It's already going to be tough to play at 5:30pm pacific here. Work already is playing a large role in any conflict's. Any earlier and I will have to pull out.

Really won't matter since you already seem to have 16 player's. So I wish you all the luck and I hope this work's.

That is not a good solution either. Making something off limit, like the lowlands, would control the game too much.
What if Austria already control most of Germany before they get Holland? Then France could do nothing to prevent them from also getting the most rich provinces in Europe, the lowlands.

The best way to balance France is to somehow control them to stay inside France itself. If France would annex some French minors isn't that bad, they would still have alot of vassals that they could not diplo annex until a fixed date. A solution for this could be to give Austria the lowlands from start. Yes, it would be ahistorical, but face it. Burgundy is a dead man the moment the game starts. If France don't get it then someone else will.

I'm not sure if a human player in Burgundy is a very good idea either. It would most likely mean that France will be fighting Burgundy over the French cultured land. And if Burgundy manage to get a coalition then France will have no chance.

Just so you know, I'm still around, if a bit less active. I'll be around in a week and a half for the game, though I hope there's still going to be 14+ people, after all, that's what I found so interesting about the game. I like the idea of a human Burgundy becoming Netherlands. It'd be a rough role to play (yeah, like I can talk, I'm playing Genoa. hehe), but a competent Burgundy should be alright. Then Burgundy can convert to Netherlands, become an Austrian vassal, and lose French culture.

Are we still planning to include the random leaders? Has anyone heard from Shigure? I hope he's alright. I'll need some time to set up the leaders, I'll have to find free IDs for the leaders and test the scenario to make sure it runs alright.

With the number of players we have, I'm fairly convinced that balance will not depend on the scenario setup, but it'll depend largely on the player's ability to balance the game. Anyway, need to run. Catch you later.

Austria requires the Lowlands in order to compete with Austria and also to have a Habsbourg situation in the early part of the game. France has no cores on most that territory but it's still valuable to fight over, plus the inheritence event will drive Spain into competeing for Lowlands too which will allow historical Spanish-Austrian cooperation vs France...also bring the OE into it, wanting portions of Hungary to prevent a UberAustria...England and all the other colonial minors will work towards growing<with all the Colonial Minors we're going to have a bunch of competition overseas> France/Austria/OE/Russia/Poland/etc... shouldn't be fighting over Colonies. If you don't create enough competition between them to begin with you'll have nations like TOT France...

i really think that in 1453 scen, austria should be boosted, and not weakened
austria has enemies all over : France,Brandeburg,Poland,OE,Venice
and inerits of bohemia (1526) and hungary (1540) are far
i wanna hope an Austria will exist yet,at these times

Either way which scen you choose I recommend you choose to play with my new set of random events. I released them with my new 1492 scen (Devil's AOE) CHECK IT OUT HERE. I will release a Aor 1.5 with new RNG events this weekend if I can get the time. My Rng event really gives a much better MP experiance and promotes skill instead of luck. ( and yes before you ask, I have scaled them all HG :D )

A shame this game runs at 0130 CET, I would have loved to kick HG's ass ;)

I hear ya Lady E :p Call it a quaint notion, but I'm more into the enjoyment of the game for myself and others. I'm not really big into nation destroying myself these days anymore.

Anyway, I took a quick peek of the 1453 scenario, mainly France cause that's where all the concern seems to be. I can't really see Fredrick's France failing to expand to it's natural borders and becoming quite Uber fairly quickly. The BB might be high but really it should be fairly simple if he doesn't mind breaking vassals and such.
Perhaps a coalition could slow him down but there are really no one around to build one. England will be expanding in the Isles, Austria will be trying to build up before the OE onslaught. Genoa? Hardly likely. Castile with 37 MP and a brain-dead ally?
No suggestions really to solve the French problem but it needs to be done. I'll have to leave that up to you wise old owls out there. :)

.... Hey I have an idea! How about another Random game? They're a lot more fun! :p
