I personally like seeing Queen Vic when i end a game (assuming that Britain is a Great Power). And all the other guys.
Yes it's easily changed.Christian I. said:ok some minor details i noticed
i hope it is legitimate to mention them here:
a.
in siam malaysian/sunni pops are split up all over the country, they should only exist in the southernmost province of siam.
b.
madagascars state religion should actually be paganism
the country was ruled by queen ranavalona until 1861 and all western influence especially western religions were banned
(i wonder if i could change that myself in the database)
is there a state religion of paganism ?
of course the pops should be pagans too
religion = catholic
religion = pagan
In any case, I think it can be prudent to bring attention to this notice in the bug-reporting forum:Christian I. said:(about siam i i checked again to see everyting in place....must have misperceived it last time, or they migrated)
As an addendum and IMHO, I'd say that even if you spot grave mistakes in the POP distributions, if you want to have someone look further at it, it helps (very much) to back it up with credible sources. If they're easily consulted (e.g. online), that doesn't hurt either.Derek Pullem said:This is a summary of the situation with regards to POP changes. It has been ok'd by Paradox.
Paradox are committed to improving Victoria and welcome comments on population distributions within the game. However, in a game as complex as Victoria and with so many conflicting sources and opinions over the population and culture of most of the provinces shown on the map, it is unrealistic to expect a detailed response / reply to each query.
Where an error or ommission has a significant impact on the game, in Paradox's opinion, POP changes will be made as a part of the normal patch process. Examples of this would be a total population twice as large as it should have been in real life or 2,000,000 aristocrats in a single province.
Smaller errors, for example incorrect state religions or obviously incorrect distributions (e.g. no catholics in Switzerland) may get fixed as time permits.
Errors that have little or no impact on gameplay e.g. the absence of a 5% minority or a 20% swing in the split between one minority and another are best left to user generated mods in the VIP forum. Paradox have a history of adopting player mods into the game (e.g. Mad King James' Flag Mod) and should a consensus be reached around a "better" POP mod or group of mods then this may be considered for inclusion in the official game.
It is hoped that everyone will understand the reasons for this policy. Paradox can add more value to the Victoria experience by concentrating on tangible improvements in gameplay rather than indulging in lengthy, albeit interesting, discussions on populations and ethnicity.
Hope this clears up any misunderstandings
If I had my mind to alter the game file, separatism would increase the militancy in provinces that are possible revolters. So if you're playing luxembourg, separatism being on wouldn't really affect you, whereas Russia or the USA, separatism would be a big problem as all the possible revolter nations that are a part of you would become more militaristic and conscious, but only inside of those provinces that *could* revolt.
Revanchism would make an AI go nuts increasing their military to try to gain all of their national provinces. Only when they've accomplished this would it go away. Taking a core province with a majority population of that country's accepted cultures would possibly trigger revanchism. The more you take, the bigger the possibility.
National trauma would have a possibility of being triggered after a humiliation or bankruptcy. When a national trauma is triggered, there would be huge increases in militancy and it would basically be one step towards a civil war. Pops would become much more fiercly militant if their needs were not being met or if their primary or secondary interests were not those of the ruling party. It would wear off after a time, but this is akin to the sort of thing the USA went through during the Great Depression, Germany went through after WWI and France after the Algerian War.
I just mention these three values because they're already coded in to an extent, or at least were planned to be used, and since Victoria is being altered for the next patch, maybe we can still try to get some of this stuff into the next patch over the next month or more that they're planning to work on it, because sadly there's no way to code events like that without them being absurdly complicated, with dozens of events for each country and revolter nation, which frankly doesn't seem worth the effort for the effect.

I am speaking of the American Transcontinental railroad. In reality, the US gained a great deal of prestige for this accomplishment. I suppose that the Trans-Siberian Railroad should be covered as well.

Eshmunazar said:Also I'd like to request that when a nation switches their AI, the last AI they were using remains on file under a new tag like LASTAI or something. Especially with VIP as well as advanced country event coding that gives very different options for countries to take, sometimes those paths don't end up too well. It'd be nice for there to be generic events that switch a country back to their last AI if they have certain revolts or revolutions. For instance, if revanchism was added, and a country had a very military-minded AI for a while, when they eventually lose revanchism, it shouldn't just be to a generic AI they switch back to, but their old one, whatever it would have been. If you could just have an action that would switch the current AI back to whichever one was last used, it would help a lot of possible events.
