3. comes with B&W Regionmaps in pdf format which one can print out at home. Like a map of the European part of the SU or Eastern North Africa.
Why steam? Just buy from Gamersgate and Paradox will get all the money.

well, i can say now that there will not be a full color map of the world, as to make a single province big enough to see its name, you'd not fit the map on an A1.
How about giving the world map as A0 or bigger wallpaper to purchase for some bugs?

And what about a collector edition with a miniature of a panzer and a CD with militar music...
How about Area Maps, in Greyscale i.e. European Soviet Union or East North Afrika, etc. ?
I, for one, just want a good old fashioned CD/DVD available at the local store. And if possible skip the manual (or at least the printed version of it).

The only advantage I see in such a huge map is that you can convince everyone that you are totally crazy if they see such a map on the wall with a detailed plan to conquer the world with Tibet. :rofl:
More smaller maps could be much more practical, and would be definetly something nice in a collectors edition.

New Scenario: Map
How about just adding a new scenario called "Map" that has no units; anyone could go into this scenario at any time and move to their locale of interest, zoomed to whatever level they want, choose which map view they want (political, terrain... any others that make sense here?), and do a screen capture which they can then do with as they wish.

You still couldn't print it on anything larger then A4, at least if you have a common printer.
This is not really sufficent for you personal war room.
I really hope there is a special or collector's edition of this game with some kind of cool feature. Doesn't have to be a map, maybe like a strategy guide or a CD of the original game music (Hearts of Iron I) that you can play or load on your PC to play during the game, instead of the score they make for the game. While I appreciate their efforts in coming up with thier own, new music for HoI2, I still think the Classical music was a better fit for the game. Who doesn't love the Valkyries for the opening piece?
Also, in terms of price, is everyone thinking $49.99 USD or $39.99 USD? Anyone remember how much HoI2 was?

I would like to see it on Impulse or Steam, they do a good job in making it available in an organized fashion.

Doesn't everyone here have one? What...I'm the only one with a war room? Hmm...maybe my wife saying I need professional help is really true.
Steam = millions of gamers online. Gamersgate = thousands of gamers online. I'm just guessing at those numbers. But I'd be willing to bet my children on that fact that Steam has more active numbers accessing it then Gamersgate...consider that Electronic Arts now has a catalog of games on Steam. EA is the largest PC game publisher in the world! I think HoI3 would see thousands more copies sold via Steam than if they just sold thru Gamersgate. However, why not both?

I tried gamersgate and i like it because the game run independently and the download+install was fast and smooth. I will, however never use Steam again. Last week i got an wierd urge to play some Company of Heroes so i downloaded steam and got the CoH combo pack edition. Download went fine but slow and when i started the game it only took 10 mins until the screen turned black with the gamesound still going. Restarted the game and it happened again. Tried one more time and it ran for 5 minutes and then got a ctd. I actully tried to make it work maby 10 more times with reinstall and all but it simply would not work, always a new bug or crash. Checked their forum and saw almost no activity and people with the same problems as me got no good solutions. Called a friend after this who had CoH+expansion who let me borrow it and it worked like a charm. So must be something wrong with this godforsaken Steam. It sucks that Steam-games has to be booted up with Steam running in one way or another.
