Assimilate Cultures (and some other culture extras)
an Elder Kings Submod by Dragoon_103

Current version of Submod:
0.0.3

Version of Elder Kings:
Any

So this is a mod for a mod, I like to call it a Submod, but its probably currently at a stage it should be called a Submod Minimod, or would it be Mini-Submod? Or a Minimod Submod? Anyways, what this mod is about is CULTURES! Big ones, small ones, even some spreading. So what is it you ask? Well, this mod allows you to assimilate cultures (only some, patent pending, more research to be undergone, yadda yadda) with the click of a button! (well, a little more then just 1 click, maybe like 4 or 5, I don't know, didn't count) Instead of removing the local racial population of a province, now you can integrate them into your culture group via "EDUCATION"tm. This means less revolt risk and better multi-culturalism. No more shall empires turn into big boring Altmer, Heartlander, or Dunmer culture and racial blobs. A bonus is that the ai will use the new assimilate option as-well. Now, this doesn't remove the ability to change a culture into your own, but its there to supplement a game and make it more diverse. Also, keep a heads up on the Imperials, the extra is that the culture will move around more dynamically in the province. I've tried to keep the spreading of the imperials to lore but because this is a submod it doesn't follow as closely as it might. And to top it off, the speed and rate can be adjusted based on your game rules. If you have faster melting pots set to ON then get ready for a cultural bananza (sadly it must be set at the start of game, no changing rules mid save as far as I know). And that's all for now folks, check back in eventually and there might just be more added, who knows! I don't!

TLDR

new cultures, allows you to "shift" a race/culture into a different group for less revolt risk while keeping the other races in your Empire.

How to do stuff:
Right click your own holding (The little castle thingie)
Click on assimilate (then yes/ok/whatever it says on the button, otherwise it wont work)
Wait some time (if too long, 25 years, you must do this process again)
Tada!, "Educated" Populace!

Some Rules to follow (not like you really have a choice)
you can only assimilate a province that is not of your culture group, so no assimilating nords as bretons.
you can reconvert a colonial culture back into its mostly original culture by assimilating it again.
Heartlander is the only return imperial and breton returns from converted reachlands.( currenty only Aldmeris, Chimeris, Yokudan, and Nedic can re-reeducate their population back to their original, minus reachmen, because I don't like them.)
Yokudan culture return is a little different. If outside culturegroup redguard is in yokuda it goes back to yokudan even if you are crown, and everywhere else goes back to crown (Sorry forebear?)

you only need an adjacent province of your culture group to assimilate, or ports work.
you can set as many provinces as you can to assimilate at the same time

Bugs/Problems:
should work on all versions of Elder Kings that has the right click menu for settlements
yokudan_group was just added quickly so there might be an odd thing here or there with it, feel free to tell me.

Otherwise, none that I could see right off the bat.

Code:

Assimilate culture settlement decisions:
-allowed on Non Culture group, coastal, or neighboring your culture group, provinces
-Lowers tax rate by 15% and costs some initial cash
-ai that is of a culture that makes no sense that they would be nice enough to assimilate instead of remove them entirely wont bother. Mean traits ai will also not bother

Assimilate culture event:
-converts a culture into its other culturegroup equivalent

Cyodiilic Melting Pots Part 1
0.0.2

Changes
    - Can no longer assimilate undead, daedra and sload, they cannot assimilate others either. Makes no sense for these groups to care about integrating mortals
    - Elf cultures take longer to assimilate into non elf by a factor of 3, Long lifespans and stubborn culture and all that.
    - Assimilating a province only goes for 25 years. its to make it go away by itself because im not going to put another holding decision and cause clutter
    - player can no longer assimilate if they are of an evil/destructive culture. example kamal or undead. culture convert them another way
    - Added localization to the culture_convert_province decision until the base mod adds some

New events
-Nord Province converts to colovian with Colovian ruler and bording colovian province
-Heartlander/Nibenean Province converts to colovian with nord ruler and bordering nord or colovian
-Heartlander outside of heartland region ruled by either colovian or nibenean rulers and borders each culture respectivly turn to colovian of nibenean based on ruler
-Colovian and Nibenean culture bordering change to heartlander
-Colovian and Nibenean provinces ruled by heatlander and/or bordering 3 heartlander provinces convert to heartlander

Generic Yokudan_group assimilation

To like the 5 People who downloaded the initial version, I've updated with some extra little bits and tweaks. Next step is to probably make the generics a bit more unique, like both names lists from the 2 cultures, maybe even change the clothes if I can.

This sounds like a great idea! I always thought it boring how in Vanilla CK2 one culture would eventually expand to make the whole world a mono-cultured blob. The idea of new cultures being born from a mixing of an overlord culture with its subjects, that doesn't result in a melting pot that just leads to a new blob, would be a great idea.

Though I should tell you that there kinda already exists a culture in the mod that does what you're looking for, the Lukiul which represent Imperial (nedic) influenced Argonians. If you could integrate them into the mod that would be great, since it would mean that that culture would finally find some use in game.

I've actually used the Lukiul as the placeholder for the nedic group argonian assimilation. they have the english like names rather then the other argonian ones, I just haven't done anything else with them atm

Hmm, not sure if I understand the way this mod works. with "instead of removing the local racial population", Does this allow races to be a different culture than their own when you assimilate them?

Instead of having, for example, the Bosmer population replaced by an Heartlander one, you'll have a Wood Elf culture to represent Bosmer with a culture drawn from both sides

Any chance for a yokudan group version of the cultures?
Yeah I can get on that, it won't be really creative at the start with any extra unique stuff but I can do the basic version of the cultures so that you have some extra invasion options of culture converting people in the meantime.

EDIT:
0.0.3 has a basic implementation of the yokudan group, if you have any suggestions about more flavor for them then feel free, i don't know much about them and don't really care too much myself to look into it right now
