It might make cheating tedious, but it doesn't mess up events triggering :) We used that system for the MEP, Birthright, and Warhammer.

If you get high enough numbers, it does. That's what happened with EK isn't it?, childhood education events started not triggering as the IDs got too high.

Depends on how extreme the numbers are I suppose, but even assigning 5000 IDs to each region in Forgotten Realms won't reach those.

In Warhammer our highest character ID range is 7,000,000 and it still works fine.

That's true, but I don't know how it's going into the mod. So would Chondathan be a single culture covering several kingdoms, or a group containing Cormyrian, Sembian, Dalelander, etc?

Chondathan is a single culture covering several kingdoms, most kingdoms aren't homogeneous which Mods such as AGoT handle well by limiting culture spread.

Main problem is probably going to be religions since religions are mixed up all over the map and their is a lot


Can you namespace character ids?

Don't believe so , or that it would be worth name spacing characters since decent sized mods have 3000+ characters

Demography in Faerun is more dynamic than one in GOT, with events like rise of Obould Kingdom, return of Netheril, elves going to and then returning from Evermeet, etc. At least until Spellplague nuked everything. Anyway which year do you intend to be a start date?

I figured you could use the "purple" druchi from the warhammer mod for drow, high elves for sun elves, current pale druchi for moon elves, and asrai for wood elves.

Dwarves, halfings, orcs, goblins and treemen also exist now as portrait sets from MEP and Warhammer. MEP trolls could be used for giants I guess.

So as promised, I'm slowly trying to help this mod forward.

Getting it to anywhere the level of Birthright or Warhammer will take a very long time and a team of dedicated scripters, but I do think it can be made playable pretty fast if we cut some corners and integrate existing mechanics from Birthright/Warhammer where appropriate.

For example Silfae has given permission to use his awesome Warhammer portraits, so here's a proof of concept of how they can be re-tinted to represent sun elves, moon elves, wood elves, and drow (all credit goes to him obviously, I just - very unskillfully, in some cases - changed the skin tone) :

I'm not quite sure how I messed up the sun elf woman's mouth while making the skin bronze-ish, nor why the drow do not have the white hair I'm pretty sure I set them to have, but these are minor details, surely!

Good work on the drows. For the sun elves it looks like they've been saturated too much. A general desaturation across all layers should fix the problem.
As for the drow's hair, I'm not sure, but, since they do have only white hair, you could just make the hair layer brighter (with a little more contrast to keep depth).

Just so ya know, without using the Underdark, I know of the following surface drow outposts. Minauthkeep in Cormanthor (Vhaeraunite drow), Sulasspryn in the Moonsea (Lolthite drow), Dallnothax, Iskasshyoll, and Holldaybim in the Forest of Mir, between Calimshan and Tethyr (Vhaeraunite drow mostly, and other evil gods than Lolth)

As for the drow outposts, good stuff Deserk. I have a mad plan of trying to model the underdark, somehow, as a separate zone above the spine of the world... but not sure it'll work, and I certainly can't do it myself.

I'm still kind of in need of a break after all the Birthright and Warhammer stuff, but I'm enjoying just trying to help get this Faerun mod up and running on a basic level. I'm currently trying to fill out the baronies on the mapfiller tool, mostly just with placeholder names, but once that's done... it'll be a big step forward.

For the most part Drow are all over the surface world because of the The Retreat (1344DR - 1374DR) of the other elves from most of Faerun to Evermeet except for Evereska and a few other small realms.

About half the map is now done with baronies, but this is a perfect time for those guys who say they'd love to help, but don't know how to mod, yet will assist with lore :)

We're using JonStrykers mapfiller tool, so it will involve editing an excel sheet that has the county name, and the barony names, and what types they are and if they are built or not - and most critically, their names. You'll get to alt-tab in between the excel sheet and Enoofu's beautiful map of the realms, so that's the upside!

It's very simple, I can explain how to do it in 5 minutes, and it'll probably be about 10 hours of work.

Any takers? ;)

It's just a few hours of work on my part so far and not even half completed, but it's looking promising enough I think :) We have Menzoberranzan with several drow houses, Blingdenstone, Manthol Derith, Graklstugh, Ammarindar, Chaulssin, and a few other minor inhabited cavern locations so far. The idea is to have it connect to certain surface provinces via adjancencies from the "southern" tunnel exits that almost hit the northern edge of the surface map.
