Mod will attempt to create a CK2 version of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting on the European-inspired subcontinent of Faerûn.

Most people better know it as the setting of Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Night, and Baldur Gate series of Games or Drizzt Do'Urden books

Goal will be trying to get a nice version and fast with little problems so following that
-----------------------------------
Will Not Attempt to Map
// This doesn't mean events, characters and armies will not originate from these off map areas
-----------------------------------
Sigil
The Underdark
The Planes
Rest of Abeir-Toril continents includes Kara-Tur
Fourth Edition version of Faerun
------------------------------------
Will Attempt to Map
------------------------------------
Faerûn // Will include elements from 1st-3.5 edition
Evermeet
Nimbral
Lantan
Moonshae Island

Which is roughly 30 kingdoms
----------------------------------
Image of the Area
http://i61.tinypic.com/2vl65w2.jpg
----------------------------------
In the case that the Project is Abandon, or if no activity in this tread in a 1 month time frame
----------------------------------
I give permission to use Any of My work in this mod as long as you give credit and that you post here that you are taking the project up
------------------------------------
Gladly looking for help in creating
races, religions, landed titles, history files.
------------------------------------
Early Prototype of the map
// 4 days of modding before Christmas and these past 10 days so isn't complete by far

So its rough including no real attempt at coloring, few provinces are only in this for testing, and water level is set insanely low, as the map is the size of AGOT Mod 4096 by 2560 (roughtly 1 million pixel) and will take about 1 1/2-2 months to get nice
-------------------------------------
Just to show progress

Will be following this very closely :)

You should ask Lonhaldar of the Middle-Earth Project if you can use his portraits, and if so, I'd be happy to help you integrate them for orcs/halflings/dwarves/elves, and I can also show you how to use fixed portraits for all the other races that are in the realms.

And as I said previously, anything you want from Birthright you're welcome to take, as long as credit is given of course!

I'd also be curious to know which races you plan on including, by the way!

The reason I made a Birthright mod instead of a Faerun mod was partly due to the sheer scale of the Forgotten Realms in terms of races :p

Sorry for the late reply's, was checking out the Faerun mod for CiV 5

I'd also be curious to know which races you plan on including, by the way!

The reason I made a Birthright mod instead of a Faerun mod was partly due to the sheer scale of the Forgotten Realms in terms of races :p

Not totally sure which races will be included or not included, probably will ask some of the other fantasy mods if i can borrow certain Art Assets at a later date. But even without them it shouldn't be a limiting factor.

Really the goal for the next few weeks is to get most of the land provinces up, and to finalize elements like rivers and topography, and to fix up a couple of bays and Halruaa's SE coast.

Which is probably the main reason a lot of modders give up on Faerun mods since Faerun is largely lots of scattered mountain ranges, rivers , and lakes. I probably have around 30-60 mountain ranges added to the map alone.

Probably going to just be one BM at the Start, just from the map size , their is probably going to be around 1000-1400 land provinces depending on how it runs and how it looks.

Timeframe probably going to be around late 1360's- early 1370's

Yeah, just finishing the map of Faerun will be an awesome endeavor in itself :)

Be sure to use JonStryker's map filler tool once you get around to making the provinces, baronies, and de jure set up in addition to the culture/religion file, it can be done in a few days actually even with a 1000 province map. The only difficult part will be coming up with names for all the baronies and provinces, that'll take some creativity!

As for portraits for the races, placeholder static portraits are relatively simple to add once you know how, so you can technically have like 50 different races in the mod if you like.

Don't believe that there will be that many different races used as most of the world is under Kingdoms ruled by Humans, with Dwarfs, elves,Gnomes, orckind and halfings basically ruling the rest of the surface world.

Humans will be broken probably into 20 groups, Elves will be at least 2 groups as one will be Drow.

Races that fall under Lycanthrops, Vampirism, planetouched and Undead can probably be best represented by traits.

About elves, Lonhaldar actually very briefly made a drow-colored version of his elves for me once :)

That means that it should be possible for someone with good photoshop skills to modify his portraits to be golden-hued for Sun Elves, silver-hued for Moon eyes, and green-hued for wood elves. It's "just" a matter of changing the skin colors, but I think it'd be great with elven subraces.

Serpentes, the Yuan-ti realm between Tashalar and Lapaliiya (source: Serpent Kingdoms)
Rethild, the Lizardfolk realm between Halruaa and Dambrath (source: Shining South)
Erlkazar a human realm between Tethyr, Lake of Steam, Ssespech and the Shining Plains. (source: Lands of Intrigue)
Raumvira a human realm round the Lake of Mists (in the Hordelands) should be a de jure kingdom (source: Dragon magazine 349)

Dambrath should also extend de jure to the Swagdar (between Western Shaar and Dambrath). However Dambrath should not be in control of it at the start. This region is a hotbed for Arkaiun rebel activity.

I don't think also the Shaar should be a de jure kingdom of it itself. It's far too big and wild for that. You could divide it into Western and Eastern Shaar as seperate de jure kingdoms I would suggest too. Eastern Shaar could be called Eltabrannar which was an old Myrkulite kingdom that existed there some centuries ago.

Still working on this mod, mostly been slow trying to reread a lot of lore to try to figure out the political layout.

Islands West of Faerun are starting to look nice hopefully in a few days i will add new pics showing what they look like.

May cut off the map after Halruaa since the map is currently pretty big in size
