Calradia Kings
A Total Conversion mod for Crusader Kings II based on the world of the Mount & Blade games

The aim of this mod is to, obviously, create an accurate, fun and vibrant world of Calradia for the game Crusader Kings II. I feel the world of Mount & Blade that we love so well is perfectly set up for the Crusader Kings II engine.

Calradia is unique in the way it is a world created solely for Mount & Blade. I love the world Taleworld's have created but there is no denying that a lot of it was lefting up to the players imagination and interpretation. Unfortunately, in Crusader Kings II you can't just leave things up to the player's mind. This is both a negative and a positive. It's a negative because we are then forced to fill in blanks and it might seem as if the mod is unfinished as a result. However, the silver lining is that we are allowed to flex our imaginations with raping a beloved lore.

Future Plans

To create a Calradia with accurate cities, castles, villages, factions, titles, characters and history

To expand and stretch the lore of Calradia somewhat, while still keeping close to the base, to allow us to create an interesting and fun campaign

Add new traits to the existing ones so that there will be very detailed characters.

To make a busy, vibrant world just as active as the one in M&B. This should involve the adding of more events and features.

Recruitment


Having only started modding Crusader King II for the first time myself yesterday afternoon, I don't think it's fair to start asking people to follow us on this. Also, having started yesterday, with such little experience, I'm not totally sure what we'll need help with and what we won't be able to do. However, here are positions I think we might need:


- A 2D artist, preferably someone who knows how to mod CKII but not at all necessary
- A mapper (not sure about this one, but anyone with mapping experience will definitely be of use)
- Someone to add in new troops


Apart from that, if you're interested in this and have some modding skill or feel like you want to learn, just sent me a PM and we'll try to sort something out. Also, even anyone with suggestions of things that could be implemented into the mod. As I said Calradia leaves us with a lot of gaps to fill and room to mess around with, therefore any suggestion we like will, at the very least be tested to see how they perform. So feel free to post away.

I really like the idea of this mod, I could help with coding, however I have no idea how to mod this game in the map-section. Also a question, is the timescale going to somehow be lowered to M&B's speed? Because I saw you had Lady Isolla of Suno there, her claim wouldn't last if it were in the normal CK2 time-frame. And seeing as how you have Rolf's full name as Rolf Rolf, you could maybe just make him lowborn or something, that would probably be reasonable for most of the companions you pickup throughout that game.

I have considered the timescale thing. I'm just guessing now because I haven't looked into modding it but it could probably be edited by changed the time speed multipliers and then vastly increasing army movement speed and any other revelent actions. We haven't discussed it yet though, but I would be of the opinion that we should leave it as it is. Mainly because the idea of this mod is to make a Mount & Blade world that fits into Crusader Kings II, not to make Crusader Kings II fit into the Mount & Blade world

As for Rolf, well in M&B he claims to be of a noble house - the House of Rolf. It is strongly suggested though that he has made this up and is just a bandit but it is not clear, if lowborn bandit or a highborn son of an impoverished noble. Either way when you grant him a landed title in M&B, you get no controversy penalty so that means he does have noble blood or, at the least, everyone believes that he is of noble birth. Therefore I think an unlanded courtier with no claims suits him well

It's a bit of a boring map though, it sucks that there are no real lakes or anything to liven' it up. The provinces are also huge since there just aren't much to build them on, there's a province for every holding in the game, villages, castles, cities.

For this to be any fun we will really need to be creative and split from set lore rather early.

Yeah unfortunately, as I said in the OP, the Mount & Blade lore is only for Mount & Blade and is very basic. Luckily though, it allows us to be very imaginative and experimental without feeling bad for ruining the lore. Most likely we will add many new titles to the map when we get going

I know what you mean. I always called it "Calrandia", just because I thought it was easier to say and type. It wasn't until I started researching for this mod that I decided I should call it by it's proper "Calradia"

But how will you capture the Nords always feasting when they should be at war? :laugh:

I thought that was the Swadians. Always having feasts while an enemy army encircles their walls :p
