[WinXP][NMI] Can't change the resolution in-game ?

So, for some reason I can't change the resolution at all. Its stuck at 1440 x 900, which is also my current and highest desktop setting, and it shouldn't really be necessary to edit a txt file or anything like that.
Am I the only one experiencing this? And is there some way I can fix it?

afaik changing resolution requires a restart of the game engine, but if you go into options on the video tab to the left at the top you should be able to scroll through the preset resolutions, and then restart the game

Let me just clarify that im aware that a resolution change requires a restart, however the problem is that i cannot change the resolution at all ! What to do, what to do...

DxDiag so I can see your system settings

I know the custom resolutions you'd have to edit the setting file, but with the DxDiag I can see if there is something eelse at play before I guess

OK depending on the resolution you were trying your system might be stopping you, as your display has a max setting based on the DxDiag of

I think the default minimum resolution is 1200 x 800 so you may be kinda borked on available standard resolutions.

I think 1280x720 is minimum (you probably wouldn't want to use that since it's a different aspect ratio than your monitor). If you check the system.log file it should show a list of available resolutions reported by your graphics driver. Certainly I would expect 1280x800 to be available.

[Actually if you set the min_gui lower in settings.txt you can use much lower resolutions but the interface quickly becomes unusable.]

So I guess i'll just stick with my 1440 x 900 (Goes kinda slow on speeds higher than 2), or is there some way you can edit a txt file in the game so I can change to one of the lower resolutions that my video card supports?

in C:\Users\hadadad\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\

you will see "settings.txt"

Right at the top of the file you will see something like this

graphics=

change both x / y to the same thing, save and relaunch
