Winter's Dawn is a concept I have for a First-Person Shooter when/if I become a game designer, but this is a mod idea for HoI2.

The World of 2100 CE

The year is 2100, global warming has damaged major cities along with much of South-East Asia. A second Korean war occurs in 2013, resulting in the destruction of the former North Korea. In 2014, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and the Phillipines join together as the Democratic Federation of Asia to help the two latter along with the former country of North Korea.

In 2030, a civil war in China results in the patriation of China into the DFA, while in the Middle-East, countries unite as the secular Arabic Federation to support eachother as the last barrels of oil are sucked from the Earth's crust. The European Union unites as one government, and all through the world, countries are working towards alternative fuel - Hydrogen, solar power, wind power.

2056 - The growing economic depression brings the former soviet states, except Armenia (which is in the EU), closer together in government, tightening the ties formed by the Confederacy of Independant States.

2066 - Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia cede from the Arabic Federation, and bring back the old Wahabist beliefs as the United Islamic Emirate. The AF and UIE go into a long brutal war, eventually resulting in the victory of the AF, with support from the European Union and Democratic Federation of Asia.

2070 - Scientists in Europe and North America discover that the gulf stream is shutting down, cooling Europe and North America's climate.

2080 - The gulf stream completely shuts down, and the glaciers begin the return. Over the next twenty years, the sea level lowers, revealing land that's been underwater for years. A crisis ensues as the strait of gibraltar begins to become impassable to ships, but it allows the construction of the Gibraltar Bridge, linking the EU and UAS even more.

Finally, in the year 2100, a new oilfield is discovered under the border between Kazakhstan and the DFA state of Xinjiang Uyghur. Tensions arise between the two over the oilfield, since many parts of either country have not yet recovered completely from the death of Oil

The Countries:

European Union
Market Liberal (Democracy basically, not sure of the difference between market/social liberal)

Democratic Federation of Asia
Market Liberal

Arabic Federation
Social Conservative

United States of North America
Market Liberal (like America is right now)

South American Socialist Union
Leninist

Union of African States
Social Liberal

Confederacy of Independant States
Social Liberal

India and Australia/New Zealand are nations too, and there can obviously be some breakaway states. I have some flags and stuff made.

Anybody interested?

Update:

kris4o1993 made two shields/counters:

I'll try to make up larger flags for the others, but for now we can use the Arabic Federation flag in the game for that faction.

Intresting idea. :)

I would change EU to Market Liberal though since that is what all of it (apart from France which will soon switch from Social to Market) is now.

Thanks, I'm thinking of ideas for sort of breakaway countries, one of which could be the East African Federation which is also in the regular game somewhere, or we can keep all the other country files in the mod, so if there's a rebellion anywhere, that state will break away.

New idea: The EU gets a certain dissent amount, and an event occurs at some point like "The People in the Balkans are angry about (something). One option leads to the formation of some breakaway "Balkan Union" while another leads to the old balkanized balkans.

Germany turned from semi-constitutional empire to National Socialist Republic in 15 years, so why can't Europe or America be dictatorship?

Well it's possible of course, but he says that it's the EU and it's democratic and its either Social or Market and its Market at the moment so might aswell be that.

You could have N America and Austral-India as rightist dictatorships and Europe and S America as leftist more or less dictatorships, Africa, CIS, Arabia and SE Asia as democracies. Just to make it the opposite of what would seem a normal distribution.

The Democracies are the EU and USNA, the DFA is democratic but a little on the authoritarian side due to continuing insurgency in North Korea and South-East Asia, and since alot of areas are messed up due to flooding, and now many areas on earth are rebuilding coastal areas after the water levels lowered due to the glaciers coming back and stuff.

The SASU is Leninist and the Arabic Federation, of course, has problems with Islamic extremists who threaten to bring down the secular government. Perhaps there could be an event where as a possibility they take over and have Islamic law, or break away to the United Islamic Emirate again.

Also, the CIS of course is a little bit authoritarian, but a little more than the DFA. Also, the DFA and Arabic Federation have a little bit of conflict over India. Generally this all started out as a begining to the storyline of Battlefield 2142, but it's growing into it's own thing.

N Korea wouldn't be likely to have insurgency, as the population would be fed up with authoritarian rule for a century after overthrowing the Kim guy.

And would a radical Islamic faction be realistic by 2100? I mean wouldn't religion have been debunked by then? or it's role minimized to the most?

It hasn't been in over 2000 years. Maby Islam by then is more organized by then, but it can be doubted, maby there's some sort of Islamic pope  . And your right about N Korea, it's around 80 years since the fall of the North by then, but there would be some problems, like those I mentioned with the flooding and things like that.

I doubt that religion will be debunked by then. We have all this evidence pointing away from religious theories but people still believe those theories.

I see what you mean, but if you want to know, religion has already been debunked (fully), but many people don't know (most of them) or choose not to notice.

Oh, and make passing between Gibraltar and (that province at the very north of Morocco) possible (The Gibraltar Bridge, lower temp)

Once I get the scenario editor in doomsday I will. Anyways, one thing to think of is different problems with each nation in the 22nd century. Some ideas are:

-Conflict with Amazon tribes for the SASU (unless by then the rainforest is smaller).
-Conflict in the Balkans for the EU (possibly resulting in the succession of the Balkan Union, an independant country).
-Conflict between the CIS and DFA, ending up in war, which is the main focus.
-Some civil unrest in the UAS
-Civil unrest in the AF

I'd not call the Islamic Nation Arab Federation since it covers areas inhabited by non- arabs like Iran and Somalia. Otherwise, a good idea.

Aside from that, it includes staunchly Shia and Sunni regions (including Saudi Arabia!) - that is pretty implausible in its own right.

The Arabic Federation was formed out of the loss of an oil-backed economy, plus, Saudi Arabia rebelled but was repatriated at some point

Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia join together as an Islamic United Emirate to fight the AF. After the Arabic Federation wins and signs a peace treaty with the rebels, Saudi Arabia is repatriated while Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Somalia are federated into the AF.

I know where you're coming from with that though, it's also another thing that in the 2080s there was an economic global depression which shaped alot of the unions.

I have a little update. We have two new nations:

South-East European Cooperation Process
Formed some time after the European Union became centralized, the SEECP consists of the Balkan States and Turkey, with the capital in Belgrade. They have good relations with the EU by 2100.

Central Asian Union
Centralized in the mid-21st century, the Central Asian Union is wedged between the Russian Federation and the Democratic Federation of Asia. They have a isolationist policy since the discovery of oil there in the early 22nd century.

The CIS will just be the Russian Federation still, but with Ukraine as part of it.
