I've had a lot of trouble playing this country. I got bankrupt twice, and I just can't maintain a prolongued war with Castille because bankruptcy ruins my armies :(. Defeating Castille armies is easy, because the AI is dumb, but this happens until I run out of money and I'm forced to sue for peace. How to get money?

BTW, I'm playing AGCEEP currently, and needless to say that Navarra has huge armies for its very small size. I'm wondering if the AI really needs to be free of a support limit...

Probably. It's difficult for AI with this advantage, without you can imagine.
Depends.. when we're playing a 2 prov minor facing Portugal+Spain+1 prov minors with Frace-Sized army... it's rather impossible(ish).

You'll generally need help from someone nearby like Algeria to beat off the Castillian threat. You'll also need luck! Always begin by moving a slider on the 1st January 1419... I don't know about AGCEEP, but standard "vanilla" EU2 nerfs Granada by giving them DP settings that are no use in fighting.

The cheap way to ensure survival is to take a province in North Africa which Spain cannot reach via land. The AI is terrible with amphibious operations, if you have a port, you can prevent landings indefinately. Sure Spain can overrun your capital in Al Andalus, but you will survive and get breathing room to win the tech race, make powerful allies (like France), and invade when they are otherwise distracted.
