Windows vista - no go?

I cant run hio2 dd, it bugs out when i press "single player" in the first menu. it did work the first time i played, but after saving the game, ending normally, starting again, it didnt roll.

now, i see system requirements doesnt include windows vista. might this be the reason for this annoying &%##Q?

i have reinstalled the game 3 times. patches also. same problem.

must i buy xp!?

HOI2 works just fine on Vista.

Do the following

1. Uninstall HOI2 using the sticky thread instructions above.
2. Turn off the stupid Vista Security monitor.
3. Install HOI2 DD. Make sure that you do NOT install it in the default directory. Install it somewhere like c:\games.
4. Test HOI2 DD to see that it is running (try a single player game in your case).
5. If it works then install the HOI2 DD 1.3 patch. Make sure that it sees that the game is installed in the c:\games directory.

That's useful information! As far as I know tons of softwares don't work with Windows Vista, and I'd really hope that Microsoft fix that problem when they release the SP1 update...

Also please make sure that you are in Administrator mode when you install things..... Usually you can right click on the setup icon and choose Run as Administrator to do this.

I have tried this and once I select a scenario and hit start, the screen goes black and I get a message saying that HOI2 has stopped working.

How do you do number 2?
Also, when I manually uninstall, I can do everything except when I get into the install shiled folder and search for doomsday, nothing comes up. So I am not sure what to do about that. Thanks.

Nope. I did what you said and it still shuts down after I select a scenario and hit start. It goes like it about to go to the loading screen then goes to a smaller window and says HOI2 is not working. I have no idea why it won't work. Other people have said that it runs fine on thier Vista systems. I did get a message right befor it loaded about how I was trying to run a program and it changed the color scheme to windows basic. Is that anything? I would really like to play my game. Thanks for any other hlep you can give me.

I did that and still no dice. One thing though, even after manually uninstalling, when the install shield comes up, it gives me the option of uninstallng. So am I missing something when I am uninstalling it manually? I am just really confused as to what is going on here. Thanks for the help though.

Uninstall using the add/remove programs in the control panel.

Then reinstall normally.

I just got this same problem tonight, but it only started tonight.

I have been playing Armageddon for Months with no problem and suddenly this started happening out of the blue. (posting here because I'm on Vista and have the same problem. But it worked fine on Vista for a few months)

Has this issue been resolved? After installing the game after several months I have the same problem.
