Windows Cannot Access the Specified Device, Path, or File.

It exactly reads: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."

And when I start the game via Steam, after the little launch menu where you select the game (like I'm playing Vicky2, select Vanilla or AHD), it crashes, and the short 'CK2 has stopped working appears', but nothing about the message above. When I access through the CK2 folder, without the launcher, that message appears. I'm confused, please help. I'm not really tech-saavy.

Go to the CK2 folder under Steam, right click on both ck2.exe and ck2game.exe, and set them to run as admin and t disable desktop composition.

I ran it as admin, and the same message came up. And when I disabled the desktop composition via the services menu, I tried again, and the same thing happened.

Ok, well something's badly wrong, we don't see this issue here at all. What anti-virus app do you run? Try disabling it and start the game.

You could aso try copying the CK2 directory structure from under Steam to somewhere outside the system path, like c:\games\ck2\ , and see if ck2game.exe will launch there.

No, it has started to work, but always as admin, and sometimes it stops working in the middle of the game. However, now, all my DLCs and Mods don't appear on the launcher.

OK, is Steam installed under the system path (c:\program files\)? If so let's move it to somewhere else, that will save a lot of problems.

Uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete ALL the CK2-related files and directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now move Steam outside the system directory path: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7710-tdlc-0426 (somewhere like c:\games\steam\ for instance).

Now reinstall the game via Steam. Now run the Steam client option to Verify Game Cache Files until it runs clean.
