Has anyone been able to play EU2 on Windows 7? It worked fine on my old computer with XP, but won't even start up on my new machine. HOI and Victoria will run in Windows 7, but with glitchy graphics.

Did you install the game on Windoes 7?
Try installing it on XP, then just moving your EU folder into windows 7.
Heh I am no expert on computers but I just wanted to offer a suggestion of what I would do.

It works fine on windows 7 here, I dont install it in program files though, just a folder on the desktop (dont know if that helps you).

All PI games I have work just fine.

Can't install EU2 on my new computer with Windows 7.

CK installs but the map graphics are not right. Haven't tried Vicky yet.

EU3 installs okay but I really don't like it and have uninstalled agian - I want my beloved EU2 back!!!

I just am getting back to EU2. I am on Windows 7 and it runs for me. But I installed it when it was Vista. Also it's not in the default settings, so I saved it to my D drive. Try changing the install path, I keep hearing the C:\programfiles\... causes problems so try a different one. Other wise do as Tekee said, if you can, install on anthour computer and then transfer the files over.

1/ install outside the system path, so something like c:\games\eu2 or whatever
2/ rename the eu2/avi directory to anything else
3/ check for video driver updates

Okay so I managed to install EU2 on W7 but when I open her up to start a game I get a black screen of infinite nothingness.

For the record I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I've been trying to get it to work on Windows 7 but i just can't. Since I've lost my cd years ago i had to copy the files from my old computer, with xp. tried doing what you said but no results. The startup video doesn't give any trouble, nor does loading or anything, but the map is completely blank, with units and city icons sitting around everywhere. It's just white all over

What exactly did you do? Everything in post #6? If so, also try right-clicking on the game executable eu2.exe and select to run it as Admin, and to disable desktop composition. If that still fails, maybe try running it in XP compat mode.

I can't get it to work either :wacko:
I don't even get past the install.
Upon clicking setup I immediatly get the error: "this program has known compatibility problems" ...
I tried running as admin and selecting windows XP pack 2/3 aswell, nothing works ...

any help?

my eu2 runs perfectly fine in windows 7 64 bits without any mods. But again ive been carrying my original eu2 installation with an external harddrive since i installed it on windows xp to vista and now w7.

Maybe try installing in xp or vista and pasting it to w7?

I think Ihave found a solution!! You have to do 2 things:
1. Install EUII somewhere on your desktop.
2. When you start EUII and the first screen comes out press ctrl+alt+delete. You should see 2 programs: Bink video player and EU2. Eu2 will be 'not responding'. You now have to end Bink video player. Now you should see Paradox's blue logo.
Enjoy your game!

I've copied my (working) install from a vista computer onto a windows 7 laptop, and it crashes when attempting to load a game . The intro video and the main menu are fine???

I copied the folder directly, as I don't have the CD with me. It is in fact an install that I did on a win98 computer years ago and have been copying across ever since, with no problems till now.

I have a widescreen display on the laptop, could that be the problem? Some kind of screen resolution issue?
