The problem is consistent in both CKII and EUIV. Haven't played any other paradox game in a while, so can't say if it occours in other games as well.

The game works fine untill I exit. Upon exit the ck2.exe process and the allocated memory remains, with no way to remove it but to kill the main steam process.

Beneath is a minidump of CK.exe

When I look at it two things pop up: No Exception Code and no Heap Information.

I'm not aware of this as a general problem, I certainly don't get it. What if you run the games without Steam running, does it still happen?

What anti-virus and other such software do you have?

Tried to open CK2 without steam and the problem persists. Game works fine while running but leaves a process that I can't kill, with a good chunk of my memory allocated to it, upon exit.
On a side node I do have the ESET antivirusprogram, I don't know what other programs that might have an effect on the game.

Well, something is hanging on to ck2.exe and not letting it unload as it should. If you can turn off the AV as a test, try that. That aside, I guess we need to look at exactly what is running in your machine and eliminate them one by one as possible causes. What's listed in task manager apps? Processes?

Tried to close all non esential programs down, even the antivirus, antispyware and firewall.

1. Running the game without steam: No problem.
2. Turning on Antivirus, Antispyware and Firewall, running the game again: Still no problem.
3. Running the game with steam: Process hanging.

I'm not sure this is the only program that might leave CK2 hanging but it takes time to go through all programs one by one.

In post #3 you said
Tried to open CK2 without steam and the problem persists.
but now you say
Running the game without steam: No problem.
Are you saying the problem has changed - it used to happen with no Steam and now it does not? That is seriously weird, if so!

But if it truly does not happen without Steam, maybe its worth doing a full clean reinstall of Steam - I hope you don't have too many games installed in Steam? Just use Steam to remove local files, move any valued save games elsewhere, then uninstall Steam itself. Manually delete anything it left behind, then reinstall it - best to do it somewhere outside the system path this time, say c:\steam\ or c:\games\steam\ . Then install CK2 and EU4 and see if you still get the issue.
