[Win10] Game launcher no longer starts

I played the game a few weeks ago for the first time after getting a 4k monitor.
I updated the AGOT mod, made my own character and started a game with him. I realised the buttons were too small and couldn't find a UI scaling mod at the time so quit out.

Came back to the game after spotting a UI scaling mod, I sub'd to it and tried to start the game from steam.
It just says in the left hand list of all my games "Crusader Kings II - Running" for 2 or 3 seconds, then for a split second turns blue and says Syncing instead of running and then stops and I'm back to doing nothing.

I tried verying game cache, uninstalling reinstalling, deleting CK directory and folder in my documents.
I've tried reinstalling all the dx stuff and VCredist stuff. Windows is up to date, graphics driver up to date.

DXdiag uploaded as well.

I'm super in the mood to play this since GOT is back on the TV, but I guess I'm stuck with Stellaris.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

IF that doesn't help:
Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

I'd already done all that but tried it again just for you, launcher still won't start.
Because i've deleted everything, and even the launcher won't start. It hasn't generated a ck2 folder in my documents/paradox folder.

Assuming this "all that" includes deleting both CK2 folders (Steamapps and Documents) manually..

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Let me also suggest to turn off/quit/exit any gaming app like Evolve or MSI something.
This fixed launching issues earlier.

I tried closing MSI afterburner, MSI updater or whatever it's called. Still nothing.
Eventually just started closing one thing at a time and then trying, it worked when I closed Discord. :/
Why would discord stop CK2? Only way they interact that I can think of is because discord tells your friends what you're playing and maybe that clashes some how?

I have to assume a lot when trying to help in tech support issues occasionaly and as it worked before, i had to also assume the opposite from what i wrote,
namely that you might have not deleted it completely, despite you hinting/saying at doing so already in your opening post.
Wouldn't have been the first time some poster says to have deleted something completely when they didn't.
So i always mention it again and again just in case. Nothing personal.

Don't know about Discord, only that Evolve and Afterburner did stop the launcher (afer 2.6x or .2.7x , not sure) and not only for CK2, but EU4 or/and Steallaris
were also affected, as far as i recall.
I don't kow what the actual technical reason was and maybe still is.

I can only suggest to close/exit any gaming/chat/bla app that might interfer with the launcher and/or Steam.
It was just an idea.

Technical support usually isn't serving the forum (much) over the weekend, so some time to try some variants, i suppose.
Might be AndrewT makes another round this night and responds again, but i don'tknow when the weekend starts for him.

Regarding the mod, as it sounds as if you only subscribed to it, that won't work.
You need to do more. Read the description in the Workshop or here on the forum.
Just saying foir the time when the game works again.

Yeah I've got it working again thanks, I have to close a few programs to get it to start then i open them back up again and it's fine.
