Is there a certain point(s) it starts hitting RAM hard? I've got 6, but so far haven't hit any issues (despite supposedly half of that in use, at least before I start the game). Biggest city was only about 15,000-20,000 so not sure if that's just too small to notice anything or such.

The biggest RAM strain is mods. If you just play vanilla you should be able to run a maxed city with 6gb :)

I shutter to think how this game plays with only 4 GB of ram. I had 8 on my system and a ton of assets and a handful of mods. I ate all 8 up and the simulation ran fine, but when scrolling or moving around, performance took a massive dump. I bumped my system up to 16gb and it feels great. With all of my mods/assets, the game uses about 10GB and everything else is using around 3GB. It feels nice to actually have a game that puts my computer to work. WoW and Diablo are hardly resource hungry games.

Sorry bit late, but thanks! I'll have to remember not to go too crazy with mods haha (shouldn't be too hard, in SimCity 4 most of the ones I used were assets to add more options to growables besides maxis ones, not having that issue (yet anyways) with C:S =p).

Well, as said above, Fspiders' hint to set the Windows page file size to "system managed" solved the issue, the game is running perfectly now, didn't have a single crash since changing this, no memory issues anymore. So no need to look for causes - "case closed", one could say, still appreciate it :) - But no, I don't have a browser running whilst playing.

The page file fix solved a constant insufficient memory crash for me. When I installed an SSD a year ago and made it my C: drive i turned off the page file. Now I have one on my HDD set to system managed and no "insufficient memory" problem even with the mod that opens up all the tiles.
