Who do you have earmarked for your first playthroughs? It won’t be one of my first choices. I will try them though early, just to see how playing an orthodox empire and culture head feels.

As a history nerd about ancient Greece and Rome, especially the Romans, both Republican and Imperial Rome, and therefore a Byzantine fan(medieval Rome)I am just curious what all of your opinions are. Will anyone be playing as the Byzantines on release? Personally, what with them basically just being a feudal realm on release I won't and instead will hold out for a Byzantine expansion(I expect that will probably be the first one they release) but does anyone think they will still give them a try anyway? Maybe you just love the Byzantines/ERE that much? Or maybe you just want to see how they handle in the beginning.
I think he's probably quite a popular choice actually - people do seem like to Poland starts from what I read here.My first start will be the count of Zutphen, which is my hometown which they finally added as its own county. But since I asume that without any real vassal, barons etc. dont count. It might not be that interesting or helpful for learning the new mechanics, so my first playthrpugh will be the duke of Mazovia in 1066. It was my first start in CK1 and in CK2, so it is starting to be a tradition.
Duke Wladyslaw is not very healthy, at least in CK2, but hopefully he lives long enough to not be inherited by his brother, the king of Poland.
No William Start, confirmed right nowI think he's probably quite a popular choice actually - people do seem like to Poland starts from what I read here.
Don't forget there's that Dutch guy in England as well (Chester, I think), but he might not be landed if there's no William start (is that confirmed?)
They’re a strong and unique nation perfectly situated to expand deeP into infidel land with fun RP and 2 great historical empires to derive inspiration from.never understood this obsession with byzantine
might try orthodox once or twice in ck3 see if it is still just more boring catholic in ck2
