Will you be able to copy the game onto a different computer?

In many of the Steam discussion threads, people have said that the old trick of copying the game into a different folder and playing that back-up copy [To avoid patch save troubles and etc] will still work just dandy as it has with previous paradox games.

Will it work also if copied onto a different computer than the one its installed on?
Or will it need registry entries or activation for the DLC or etc which isnt in the directory itself?

Has the question been answered before? Or does this work with steam versions of the other recent paradox games?

Steam is entirely self-contained and can handle copying games back and forth between machines just fine. The thing you need to remember is that it won't be a 100% copy every time and it will still download a few megabytes.

1. Copy game folder from common to common (on new PC)
2. Delete clientregistry.blob (This is basically Steam's registry database - deleting it will force Steam to rescan for all games and DLC on next start up)
3. "Install" the game through the library and it will detect the files you copied over.

But I mean to move it from a computer than can use steam [But cant run the game] to a computer that cant use steam [but can run the game].

Through the CTRL-C CTRL-P method of copying which is how to-play-old-mods-on copies of paradox games go

With how Paradox games have worked till now, I'd put my wager on yes. It should just run on a Non-Steam machine, with the possible requirement to install things like .net Frameworks and VC. The stuff that Steam installs the first time you run these games.

Do an experiment and try the same with CK2, which I see you own. If it works for CK2, it should work for EU4

(unless your CK2 is GG...)
