Will we ever see limited peace deals in HOI4?

I love hoi4 but the lack of limited peace deals is the one thing that annoys me because it's not satisfying to end the game with swathes of occupied (as opposed to annexed) territory. I think they could rework war support so as to make it the deciding factor for whether a country will negotiate. For example, make WS depend on various factors like manpower lost, current conscription policy, percentage of consumer goods, perception of the enemy's ideology, etc. then once it gets low enough the country will be open to diplomacy. I'm not even wanting them to surrender but at least acknowledge some of the player's territorial gains. Is there any hope we'll see something like this?

I think developers mentioned they are working on something like this. Thus, it is possible in the future.

I agree, peace deals should be possible. For example, IRL Finland made peace with the Soviet Union twice (1940 and 1944), both times loosing territory, but staying independent. Finland was not puppetized or turned Communist in either of those peace deals.

Negotiated peace was also a historical objective of Japan: they did not intend to invade US mainland, but get control of natural resources in Asia, and then make peace with the USA.
Also, Hitler offered peace to the UK after France fell (UK rejected); in the game that peace offer is not even possible.

It might add more variability but then the warmaking mechanism should be reworked too since the AI currently won't attack without a war focus or claim except for a very rare case when they're facing a fortified line and attack a neutral to get around it (Germany likes to do this in Belgium, Switzerland, or Sweden). And in case of a separate peace assuming focus war there'd be currently an eternal peace.

Moreover you're better off with harshest occupation than annexation since it provides 100% slots compared to 50% slots of the latter and suppression is barely an issue.

They didn't say they were working on it, only that they would like to.

I wonder if it would be possible to implement a "global VP" system for the end-game. Something like Berlin is worth 10, Moscow and other SOV cities are worth 5 a piece, Istanbul is worth 3, London is worth blah blah blah. Get enough global VPs, you are able to force a white peace with your enemies and would be able to claim only occupied land in the peace conference.

It could exist outside of regular wars. So, if you're Germany and you occupy all of Europe + have finished off the Soviet Union + Greece + Turkey + control all of North Africa, you'd have enough "global VPs" to force a white peace with the Allies, or perhaps the game would kick you straight to a peace conference with you as the victor and you're only able to claim territory that's currently under occupation.

That way, you'd be able to forcibly annex Poland, France, BENELUX, etc, but not annex the UK or anything like that (unless you've occupied their land).

Or, make it decision-based (similar to how Germany declares the Greater German Reich). It'd be an innocuous mechanic as well. Stick in the decision menu as "Uneasy Peace" and show the player the territories they'd need to control in order to forcibly white peace and annex everything they have currently occupied.
