A stupid thread with a stupid question, but please let me plead my case. Yes the Ptolemaic dynasty took the title of Pharaohs and they incorporated themselves into Egyptian religion, but they were not truly Egyptian and probably didn't have the public support and level absolutism Pharaohs like Khufu enjoyed. Also, they were wealthy, but didn't control as much wealth as the Old Kingdom. The last pyramid was built somewhere in the Middle Kingdom, more than 1,000 years before the game even starts (iirc). The pyramids as we know them were built about 2,000 years before the game even starts and would be considered ancient ancient monuments.
This brings me into some sort of mechanic that I hope is in Imperator: Rome. I hope there is some sort of mechanic that represents Greek aristocrats ruling a foreign land with a different majority culture instead of having provinces with perpetual rebellions and low outputs. Examples: colonies, Ptolemaic Egypt, Seleucid, and dozens more examples. In other words, there is of course the Greek Egypt, but there can also be an Egyptian Egypt where true Egyptians are Pharaohs. Maybe if the player accumulates enough wealth, power, and some sort of tyrannical mechanic is maxed out, one can build another pyramid even greater than Giza to celebrate those stupid Greeks being defenestrated from rightful Egyptian clay. This should be a rare occurrence and more of an easter egg than a serious goal.
