It always amazed me that no one thought to modify the everyday-need.txt file to lower glass needs of pops as a means to attempt a control of the "glass factory spamming" I keep hearing about.

But then, I always just let them build their glass factories so that pops were happy. :p

Sorry to interject my nonsense. I have a compulsion.

But on a more general note, I am concerned that V2 is going to take even more control from the player and give it to the AI. I understand the logic of this but I'm hoping it won't restrict gameplay too much.
I haven't seen more control given to the AI yet.
More stuff out of the direct control of the players and into game mechanics, like higher defense spending means various pops 'migrating' to Soldier. But that's not AI, we still control the budget sliders.

V2 should by political, economical and military game
Exactly - all three spheres are tightly related and no one can be considered independently of the others. In this case it makes absolutely no sense for a laissez faire government to go around telling capitalists when and where they will build their factories. Never mind directly recruiting/prompting the workforce. This was one of the big improvements in Revolutions and I'm glad that P'dox has stuck to the same logic

VIP did, but it didn't seem to make much difference.

I think this is because in V1 POPs bought their needs in the order they appeared on the needs screen, and IIRC Glass was one of the first needs.

If V2 can make needs a basket of goods rather than purchase in order of need listing, this should help make for more dynamic factory construction.

Though it may not be feasible in terms of processor power of the average home computer to do a basket given the number of calculations involved to determine demand, supply and the gap between for every pop on a day to day basis.

Or of course you could have it use say 10 sublevels for each type (substinance, luxury, whatever was inbetween) so they buy 1/10th of the amount of each first before wanting the next 1/10th of each... perhaps with the exception of food that should all be stuffed in the first 1 or 2 sublevels or something... that way buying will get a little more diverse even if they cant afford to completely buy their first category of buys. ;)

I like that idea.

Or you could have the need switch every year. Where the first in line (glaas) would get moved to the end of the line.

So the demand for a good rotates.

The main thing with State Capitalism or Planned Economy that I want to know is who gets the profits for it?

Do the workers get a bigger % of the factory profits, or will the state actually get the profits and treat the factories like Crown Corporations?

Judging from the DDs, I think the workers get a better share in a planned economy. But upper level taxes are going to be high too probably, so there might be not many capitalists around to decrease materials cost for factoríes. It might end up worse for the workers. Although it seems you can subsidize pop formation.
