I searched this forum, but came up empty.

This was something I liked in Vicky, and felt Revolutions screwed it up. I realize that it's more realistic if free-market governments can't build their own factories and have to rely on capitalists to do it for them, but realism be damned, it was was more fun when we could control it.

In dev diary 6 it seems to hint that things are more like Revolutions than Vicky-Prime, but I'd like to confirm. Will we be able to build our own factories?

No, nothing has been announced. But it seems likely v2 will replicate the set up in revolutions: state factories in state cap and proletarian dictatorship. Expansion for interventionists, nothing for laissez-faire, etc.

I always thought the V1 totalitarian economy was laughably ironic in a game set during the Industrial Revolution.

Good god state capitalism was so much micro management.

Quite the contrary in my experience. State cap stopped the AI spamming glass factories and building expensive factories, ie- the tank factory in virtually POP-less provinces.

But on a more general note, I am concerned that V2 is going to take even more control from the player and give it to the AI. I understand the logic of this but I'm hoping it won't restrict gameplay too much.

The one thing they have said about factories is that you will be able to subsidize domestic production of goods you want, which implies that you do not build the factories and that the problem of glass-spamming has been identified and dealt with.

I think all goverment types should be able to build factories, just that laissez-faire and similiar types should face some kinds of penalties. I mean if the goverment says that production of something is of vital importance to the state, then it can either build outright or subsizide something the heaven so it gets it's factory where it wants it.

Unless you somehow create a communist government... Then you get to do that kind of thing (i think).

Will entire economical part of the game be played by itself? V2 should by political, economical and military game. It seems V2 would have strong economical part, but player won't be part of it. That's probably the reason I'get rid of V1 after few days. When I played V1, I felt like a spectator. I'm looking for economical and military game. Politics is bonus.

Will there be more than few sliders for economical gameplay?

The main thing with State Capitalism or Planned Economy that I want to know is who gets the profits for it?

Do the workers get a bigger % of the factory profits, or will the state actually get the profits and treat the factories like Crown Corporations?

Well sometimes they did, in denmark the king tried to build textiles factorys, so we could earn a lot of money from our colonies, that it didnt work is a other story.
