I know that doesn't have to do with anything we were discussing. I just like to say it every once in a while.
Why are you glad you're a Texan?

I would more or less accept this argument if we where talking about Vietnam and maybe Cuba. China however has some of the same problems as the Russians. Its damn hard to say they where looking after the people considering how many millions they killed. In China's case consider the 'Great Leap Forward''. as a prime example of how to kill off 20 million people with famine due to averice and mismanagement.JodoYodo said:I think that is an excellent interpretation of modern China. Though communism clamps down on some things, it is better than the Nationalist Chinese, who were essentially facists, much like the German "socialists" (aka Nazis) and the "nationalists" that took over Spain in the civil war. The nationalists were truly corrupt, while the communists looked out for the people, and though they do rule with a tight fist, they don't let the people wither away, and instead build China into an economic powerhouse.
By this line of reasoning one can do anything at all within their own borders and its absolutely no one elses business.JoshWeber said:Additionally, I believe that Locke was right when he said that liberty exists in being subjected only to the legislative and political process of the government created by your compact with your fellow citizens. Thus, any entity that tries to pass laws that you must follow and is not your government (UN) is not just.
