Nah, your post was not too harsh.

Some effort should always be into "unprofitable development time", for multiple reasons, but there are limits since most employees tend to want salaries to pay for food and rent with in the long run.

That's a problem for paradox to solve. Speking for myself, i don't have anything to do with such. I payed for the game, and at least i expect a minimum of stability and usefull features for it...
While EU3 was still in development (more than 6 months before), EU2 saw no patchs even though there were lots of known bugs. I waited for EU3...Just to see the same thing again? No, as a client i'm not to be treated this way!

The money you got for EU2, EU3, and HOI were the last cents you got from me. I wont be fouled again.

What bugs in particular? I ask because:

1) If you post in the bug report forum, someone will generally help you (For the older games, you should probably post in the General Discussion forum for that game, as this will get you more responses. Those bug report forums are generally rarely viewed by most forumers.) There is almost always a fix for game-affecting bugs (crashes, odd data, etc) and usually a fix for minor nusiances (recurring graphical glitches, etc.) as well. Yes, I know Paradox could do more to help users, but they do plenty as-is; I've never posted a bug report for which not a single moderator has responded.

2) If you're issues are with gameplay mechanics, you must consider that they are probably working as designed; while you might not like the effects of a particular feature, you cannot expect Paradox to remove/change it just for you.

Oh, yeah, before you throw in the typical "Well, you're just a Paradox fanboy with no respect for any critics" which you very well could, I'd just like to point out that I really do not support all of Paradox's decisions. However, I believe to say that they mistreat their customers or do not produce quality products is unjustified. They do much more for their customers than most other game companies (try getting tech support for the original Medieval Total War, yet you can still get support for Hearts of Iron 1). I know this doesn't technically mean they do enough, but if you're position is that they do so little as to make you not consider their products, then I'm afraid you won't be buying any games in the near future.

For example in EU2 there was a feature not working correctly that was never fixed, the auto sent merchant. In EU3 it wasn't fixed, simply was removed to be re-implemented in NA (based on the feedback it's well implemented).

Another thing was the complet change in the merchant system (patch 1.3), that screw completly the game play as the merchants don't last more than 2 to 3 months.

Besides these two there's a lot more buggy behaviours in EU3. Unstead of creating expantions that are diferent from the base product, if the expantion were just that expantion that would use the base engine the features in NA would be also in "EU3 base pack". The patchs would be applied to the EU3 base engine and not to the NA, this would allow more expantions/tematic packs to be released keeping the generic support available!

We've never supported games after a new version was released. When eu2 came out, no more eu1 patches, etc...

NA and EU3 cannot be compared to EU2 and EU1; last time I checked, you didn't have to have EU1 in order to play EU2. As someone coming late to the EU3 scene (ie after the release of NA), I feel cheated in that am required to purchase the unsupported game before being able to buy and play the supported, completed version.

Like I have stated previously, the lesson for EU:Rome is to wait until the expansion has come out, preferably with a patch or two. Most people will prefer to get it earlier, but I have the patience to wait for the game to reach a more stable and better balanced state.

Your mileage will of course vary.

So much whining. Paradox has an impressive history with patches, and I'd love to hear about a gaming company that does better. While their patching policy is, imho, absolutely essential to their long term viability, it is a balancing act.

EU3 is not a perfect game, and no amount of patching is ever going to change that. Paradox would be profoundly stupid to continue churning out patches for it -- at some point you need to cut your losses, accept that mistakes were made, and try to do better next time.

All your frustrations with EU3 should be used constructively in the EU Rome forum. At this point, that is the most useful place for Paradox to directly and immediately respond to their customers.

I done it when EU3 was being developed in relation to the merchants... So have many people, just look around the EU2 bugs thread

True, just think if they released a Pac-Man expansion shortly after Pac-Man came out

Or Tetris. That being said, I would put most Paradox games in the category of not needing an expansion - HoI II, EU III, and Victoria are/were all great games in my opinion and don't NEED expansions. That doesn't mean that I didn't buy Doomsday, Armagedon, Revolutions, or Nappy - they just add that much more to what was already a great game.

This quote should be on gamers gate im sure it would rise number of sold copies

Any way bugs un EU3 arent big paradox is just lazy no other explanation a saying such bull shit that those issuse cant be fixed is crap...

Look NA is bloody patch if you like it or not but it fixed game engine so it runs faster if they did it they can fix those minor issues and stupid AI too...

So basicly your telling to stop whining and wait for EU4 or next addon?:)

Agree but, there were reported features in EU2 that weren't improved in EU3. Untead they were removed or changed with doubtfull effect on the gameplay...
